Are you implying that Spotify used user data to generate these advertisements, rather than just paying the marketing firm that definitely came up with this idea?
Also, way to add an extra layer to the promotion.
- Comment on lol just be up front lol 6 months ago:
“lol just be up front lol”
The guy who will call your number immediately to check is not the guy that takes an up front ‘no’. Men have the freedom to be up front in the dating scene because the risk of sexual or physical violence is much less than for women.
If she’s given you a fake number, it’s most likely because she’s not interested in you, but doesn’t trust you enough to handle up front rejection. As other commenters have said, there is a physical disadvantage for a woman if she upsets the wrong man.
And what do you win by calling her bluff? She wasn’t interested in you before, and how you’ve put her on the spot. Either you’ve just made the whole situation more uncomfortable, or you’re trying to coerce a woman into giving you her private details that she is evidently unwilling to share. I wonder why.

It’s really getting to me how many people are memeing Paul turning into a worm.
It feels like it’s a fact that was misinterpreted from one of those “7 CRAZY Things that Happen in the DUNE Novels - You’ll never believe number 6!” Videos. But because they haven’t read the books, they assume it must be Paul that worms out because he’s the Main Character, right?
- Comment on It’s true, Kelly Wilkinson was cop shopping. She was looking for a Queensland cop who cared | Lucy Clark 7 months ago:
So, women and children are the most common victims of domestic abuse. Your solution to this is to coddle the men who beat, abuse, and murder their families? Because they have been “treated like shit”? If a fox keeps killing my chickens, I’m not going to ask the fox for advice on how to protect the coop.
Buddy, EVERYBODY is treated like shit by society these days. But most of us don’t take it out on our families and loved ones. 99% of us feel let down by the system, yet manage to not tie our partners to clotheslines and set them on fucking fire.
The absolute shitstains that can’t wrap their head around the idea that their pain doesn’t give them the right to hurt and kill the people that depend on them deserve no word on the matter of domestic abuse. Fuck them.

Could not figure out how prehensile hair and Rick skin made a good match.
- Comment on Funimation is shutting down — and taking your digital library with it 8 months ago:
According to the article, the o to things being removed are digital copies that were given free with a DVD or Blu-Ray purchase.
Not amazing (I would argue that Funimation should make all eligible digital copies downloadable before the service ends), but assuming customers have their original physical media, the loss is minor.

I wonder if the people who make comments like these would feel quite so smug if their likeness was put online for anyone to use to promote hateful or disrespectful content.

- Comment on AI chatbots can infer an alarming amount of info about you from your responses 11 months ago:
It doesn’t feel like it actually inferred anything from the comment.
“You spoke about computers, so you probably know about computers”
“You express concerns about privacy, so you are likely privacy conscious”
“You said you were 30ish, so you’re maybe 30…ish”
It essentially paraphrased each part of the comment, and gave it back to you like an analysis. Of course, this is ChatGPT, so it’s likely not trained for this sort of thing.

- Comment on Here's Māori New Zealand's pre-referendum message to Indigenous Australians 1 year ago:
What an odd article. The Māori people signed a treaty with the Crown. This treaty was ignored by the government, and still seems to have no legal binding. A tribunal was created to call out breaches of the treaty. This tribunal is independent, was not created by the government, and any finding made by the tribunal can be disregarded by the government on a whim.
Yet at the end of the article, Minister Davis says that a Treaty would be a ‘unifying moment’? Why? Because it means that Indigenous Australians would have to try even harder to be heard?
- Comment on We like our EV because it's green. But for escaping wildfires — maybe it's not the best option yet | CBC News 1 year ago:
I’m not sure I understand what is being said here. In a disaster situation, EVs are a risk because infrastructure is impacted? Is the same not true for petrol cars?

What in the Wizards-of-the-Coast is this shit?
I actually cannot figure out where the logic is on this sort of thing (apart from CEOs having big cartoon dollar signs for eyes). You create a product, give it out for free, then get salty when people use your free product and demand payment in retrospect? And not just a ‘commercial licence’ payment, but a cut off the top of every game sold.
I can’t wait for visual effects software companies to start charging James Cameron $0.20 on every ticket sold for Avatar 3.
Or Tesla to start charging their drivers a fee anytime they use their car as a rideshare vehicle… actually I wouldn’t put that one past Emerald Boy.

- Comment on Reddit’s replacement mods may be putting its communities at risk — With institutional knowledge seeping out of the site, poor moderation could have real-world impacts as more misinformation is allo... 1 year ago:
Clearly competent moderators have some sort of effect, or these stories would not exist. If self-moderation worked, then the dangerous canning post mentioned in the article wouldn’t have gained any traction.
Without competent moderation, the ability for users to manipulate or derail communities grows. A voting system is entirely subjective, and a bad or dangerous idea can set roots if enough unaware people give it the votes. I am aware that moderation is also subjective, but competent, knowledgeable mods can help guide a community, or protect it from targeted harassment.
Also, they’re the ones with no life who can devote their time to monitoring the community. Most people spend a few minutes at a time visiting a community. That’s not enough time to verify every post in the last 24 hours, and vote for them all accordingly (depending on the size of the community of course),
