The weird thing is, I’m not sure customers actually do care. it genuinely just feels like engineers finding ways to masturbate.

Oh absolutely. I agree. I don’t think anyone’s disputing that something about it needs to change.

Surely there has to be a cost to the infrastructure of publishing and curation though. And possibly all the work of setting up and organizing the peer review profess. But perhaps we should treat it as a public good, like libraries, or have universities and institutions fund it for the public good.

A lot of my leftist friends will still let the bad be the enemy of any sort of good whatsoever it seems. It’s exhausting as a leftist when you can never be outraged enough for other leftists.

From a logic perspective, it would be something that is the complement of a thank you, and contradicts a thank you given ty ∧ ¬ty or is a tautology when ty ∨ ¬ty.
“Welcome” doesn’t seem to quite fit for either of those cases. “Not thank you” does indeed seem closer.

I was just thinking, streamers might have to be careful actually — you can often both see and hear when they’re typing, so if you correlated the two you’d get an audio → key mapping. And then if they type a password for something, even if it’s off-screen from their stream, the audio might clue you in on it.
- Comment on If Google succeeds with the new DRM policy, will that affect functionality of browsers like firefox which uses a different engine? 1 year ago:
Mozilla has been bullied exactly this way in the past into implementing DRM measures I believe.
