True, yeah there’s not much of a story if he just knew who she from the start. I was just wondering how long he’d continue being oblivious.
Also thought it was wild they went right back smoking after his scare.

Picked the first volume up at my local library without knowing anything about it. Was a light read and the MC is pretty dense, but mostly enjoyed it

Same, the physical camera button and 3.5mm headphone jack on the Xperia are awesome

That’s awesome. Almost looks like fan art, but IMO has more charm than CGI

That’s refreshing to see in a world of ever increasing enshittification. Wish more companies move in this direction.

Always uneasy about PE owners since their values tend to be opposed to creating well-liked, sustainable businesses. Hope they don’t start gutting budgets, loading up the balance sheet with debt, and siphoning off profits. RIP Toys R’ Us.

This is what I try to tell people who just want the cheapest things possible. We’re voting with our dollars what kind of world we want.
Also, shipping things across the sea burns some of the worst fuel for the environment so I’d rather buy things made here and support the local economy whenever possible.

MSFT has a $3T market cap and $60B of free cash flow each year, so I doubt they’re hurting for money. This is how “growth at all costs” incentivizes myopic decision-making and doesn’t really help foster an environment where studios are willing to take creative risks. Even when they succeed (a la Hi-Fi Rush) they’re on the perpetual chopping block.

$6.4B for HashiCorp on the heels of $4.6B for Apptio and $34B for Red Hat back in 2018. I wonder how long until they expect each of these acquisitions to be accretive?

Recently moved over to porkbun after dealing with a couple billing issues with namecheap and not getting the best customer service. Been pretty happy so far.

100%. Seems like phones continually get worse under the guise of “progress”. No more headphone jack or removable battery, more bloated software, anti-privacy assistants/AI. Switched to a Sony Xperia for the headphone jack alone and it’s been great, I hope they don’t follow this AI trend or else I’m out.
- Comment on Honda says making cheap electric vehicles is too hard, ends deal with GM 1 year ago:
The one dealership that didn’t have a markup near us sold out immediately and we ended paying a slight markup at another place, but after all the incentives and trade-in it was a steal.
We love our EUV, I don’t think I’ll go back to an ICE car after seeing how convenient home charging is and one-pedal driving is great.

That’s a bummer. Was interested to see what a Honda EV with ultium cells would be like. A sub-$30k EV is what a lot of people are looking for, judging from my experience buying a Bolt. Hope they can figure out the unit-economics

Not surprising. Everyone should be weary of what they share online and not expect that companies will respect their privacy

Good reminder to do this for my personal sites. Wonder if they’re scraping the fediverse for data to train on now that reddit started to clamp down on its API
- Comment on Siding, Insulation, or Mini-Split? 1 year ago:
I’m a fan of insulating first because I find it more pleasant to have the house stay at the same temp longer rather than cycling between too hot and then too cold when the AC is running every couple of minutes.
We did a combination of R-38 batt insulation in the attic and blow in (i.e. drill & fill) for the exterior walls and it’s helped tremendously. Also, we added radiant heat barriers in the garage where there’s no HVAC. We had pros install all of this since it is fairly labor intensive to crawl around in the attic. They knocked it out in 2 days.
Another thing we did was get solar panels. Depending on your state’s current net metering policy, this could more than offset your entire usage. For us it made sense since we were also getting an EV in addition to having ever-increasingly hot summers.
If I had to replace the AC unit, I might look into a heat pump/mini-split like you mentioned since you don’t have to cool/heat the entire house if you don’t need to, but ours is still fairly new.
