Agreed and when you find a small, indie company making good stuff, they may get bought by a megacorp who ends up worsening the product.
From what I can tell, a Certified B corp label seems to be a decent indicator of meeting at least a minimum standard of ethics. Hopefully more businesses start to put people of profits.

Agree we should be aware of what we’re consuming. Think the rise in certain diseases is correlated to diet and gut health. Lack of fiber, too many preservatives/sugar/etc. is getting more common in modern diets.
IMO it’s the convenience factor you have to try to overcome in most cases.
Some practical things we’ve been doing is buying more produce locally. We go to a weekly farmers market nearby or shop the perimeter of the grocery store only and avoid the center aisles. The trick is to use what you get before it goes bad (which natural food should, it’s a red flag to me if food is shelf stable for months). So we got a slow cooker and now it’s pretty easy to throw a bunch of vegetables in and have dinner ready without much effort or clean up.
The other trick is to just not have snacks in the house, otherwise we’ll end up eating those pretty quickly. I love potato chips, but if we don’t buy them, I don’t miss them and end up eating fruits or something else.
It’s a win-win, because it’s relatively cheap (beans and rice is cheaper than packs of ramen) and healthier.
But yeah it’s an uphill battle and getting increasingly difficult and more expensive to find food that’s good for you unfortunately.

I share the author’s sentiments. Would rather people read my posts and form their own opinions, than offload their thinking to a machine (while consuming energy and water to do so). And the idea that my posts would be scraped and used to train an LLM against my wishes makes me a lot less motivated to publish personal blogs.

Owned an Xperia 5 III and liked it enough to replace it with a 5 IV. Miss having options for a compact flagship like the 5 IV or Zenfone 10. Headphone jack ftw.

Cool project. The closing slide was pretty funny
If you are working at an AI company, here’s how you can sabotage Anubis development as easily and quickly as possible. So first is quit your job, second is work for Square Enix, and third is make absolute banger stuff for Final Fantasy XIV. That’s how you can sabotage this the best.

Yeah this has been the most reliable method for me. They’ll usually tout endorsements and those folks are usually easier to get a read on. Otherwise, try to find news stories or blue voter guides that mention them.

High Sierra shower heads are awesome. Installed them in each of our bathrooms. Feels like a rain shower, with more pressure then our previous stock shower head while still saving water. Win-win. They also manufacture them in small town in the foothills of the Sierra mountains which is a pretty cool fact.

Yeah they can improve their UX all they want but since their co-founder is part of DOGE and wants to mess with social security, it makes choosing alternatives easier.

+1 for Shark. Bought one several years ago without thinking much about it. It still works just as well as when I got it despite handling a pretty heavy workload. My dog sheds profusely and tracks in stuff from the yard constantly and we also use it on the cars.

Depending on what they like, I’d probably tailor my recommendations i.e. if they’re more into action, drama, comedy, sci-fi, slice of life, etc.
In general though, my go to’s are: Paprika Cowboy Bebop Steins;Gate

Installed an All American RO from US Water Syatems. Been pretty happy with it, no issues in 2 years and their how-to videos and customer support is excellent if you want to install it yourself. Even bought one for my parents house. The 6 stage version includes a remineralization step, called Livation filter.

“El correo de las brujas” translates to “the witches’ mail” and means gossip or rumors. Kind of like “heard it through the grapevine” or a “a little birdie told me”
