I don’t care what people say, the most important historical event in my lifetime was the discovery and release of the lost Steely Dan tape containing The Second Arrangement

Give them a federally issued punch card and say after you lose 10 social security cards you get a free sub and chips combo

- Comment on Baby face next to name 2 weeks ago:
Certain Lemmy apps show the baby face emoji next to newly created accounts. I assume this is a futureproofing measure against spam or bot accounts by bringing the newness of the account to other users’ attention so they know to be more wary of them. Based on my previous experience hunting bots on Reddit, I think this is an excellent futureproofing feature.
If you’re using the Voyager app, you can activate or deactivate this indicator on your end by going to the General settings in the app and switching the New Account Highlightenator. Other users will still see the baby face next to your username until you age out of it, but I don’t know how long will take.
Welcome to Lemmy!

The three circles can overlap. Peter Gabriel, for example. Probably David Byrne, Brian Eno, Nina Simone too, off the top of my head.

- Comment on ai comments on cbs videos, but why? 1 month ago:
Hopping in here to clarify for OP that these aren’t AI. They’re just spam bots. Their scripts are pre-generated and may at most contain a vague reference to specifics of the video. They are not unique to CBS videos in any way. Many YouTube channels curate spam out of their comments but that process is time-consuming and/or leads to accidental censorship of unproblematic comments.

It hurts people who aren’t in their arbitrary in-group, and they believe that is good. They believe any affliction to them by way of those harming the out-group is a necessary sacrifice to cleanse society of the evil sin of not being in their arbitrary in-group.

Budget isn’t really pinned down to a number. I don’t need anything top end so probably several hundred USD max ideally?
Usage is mostly internet. Background picture in picture for YouTube/Twitch would be great. I use apps to do banking and pay bills. Snapchat, email, and Google Suite are needed. Text/call and a web browser are given. I do occasional photography so a basic HD camera would be needed.
I use my phone most waking hours, even passively to play music while working or driving.
- Comment on Do you want me to heat that up in the "Michael Wave"? 2 months ago:
Michael wave is one of those terms I’ve started using just to see if people will notice or address that it’s wrong. Like asking someone to pass the Parmesan cheese but calling it the paramecium cheese/paracetamol cheese/Paris Olympian cheese/parenthetical cheese

My guess is this meme was taken from some social media site that suppresses non-advertiser friendly content so anything that isn’t totally milquetoast on a facile level is censored, ex. “crap” would become “cr*p”
