I don’t care what people say, the most important historical event in my lifetime was the discovery and release of the lost Steely Dan tape containing The Second Arrangement

The explanation page doesn’t have anything yet, but this feels like it has references to the Futurama episodes “The Late Philip J. Fry” and “Lethal Inspection”, with just a hint of Slartibartfast from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Many historians believe the 15th POTUS, James Buchanan, was gay and closeted. Openly gay Pete Buttigieg (D) has ran for president within recent years but ultimately did not win his party’s nomination.
However, there are two determining factors for a more modern day scenario:
-
While not categorically disqualifying on any legal level, would a lack of heteronormativity be rejected by the majority of voters (as processed through the Electoral College)? Bigotry unfortunately seems to be the winning method.
-
Will there even be a specter of fair and free elections for POTUS in the future? (Doubtful)

IIRC, the Death Star was a secret to everyone outside of the Empire until Rogue One, which took place only a couple of days before it was blown up in A New Hope. In the Imperial meeting scene of A New Hope, Tarkin says “Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station,” which implies the threat of the Death Star is meant to be widely known after its public demonstration on Alderaan; public sentiment became unnecessary once they could hold a gun to the head of every possible dissident as well as to their world. I don’t see how this meme could take place after A New Hope since the destruction of both Alderaan and the Death Star would be widely known and verifiable by that point.

The hands don’t seem off to me, especially if the model has done a lot of hand-on labor. The thing that sticks out to me as an indicator of this being not AI generated is the markings on the strand board to the right of the model’s belt; I don’t think an AI would take into consideration the product info marked onto raw material, let alone be able to place three squares of that info in line. If we could find actual raw strand board with those specific product markings, especially one sold by Home Depot, that would suggest it to be an actual photograph. Identifying the model in the photo and finding photos of him outside of Home Depot’s promo shots would also indicate it’s a photo. In either case of it being a photo or AI-gen, the marketing team still could have done some photoshopping as they see fit.

Go to the search bar in Lemmy. Filter to search for Communities. Enter in related search terms such as “changemyview” or “change my view”. Inspect each community to see what their rules are. Inspect the host instance for each community to see what their rules are. Though these communities you find here may not be as active as their Reddit counterparts, you can help grow the social environment you want to experience by participating in these communities.

This is from the subreddit mods’ rules. I don’t see it necessarily implying OP to be in the wrong or in the right. It really just implies those damn corporate admins are at fault. OP could just want a platform which doesn’t censor a discussion on subject matter alone.

Voting out was the initial peaceful response. Thanos’ coup attempt on Jan. 6 required force to be stopped and famously afterwards Iron Man looked at the camera and said “So that just happened”

- Comment on How to get a package to the right owner? 3 weeks ago:
If the address is incorrect, you could try finding the correct address and deliver it yourself, or maybe contact the post office local to that area to arrange a delivery of sorts?
I once got an Amazon package addressed to the previous resident of my apartment, and I was expecting packages of my own at the time so I opened it without reading the name of the intended recipient. Realizing it wasn’t mine, I was able to locate the intended recipient on LinkedIn and found her workplace, which happened to be nearby. I asked for her at the workplace’s front desk (without realizing that I was talking to her) and she said to deliver any other packages meant for her to that workplace. With mail (in the US, at least), you can write “Not at this address” on the envelope and mail it and it should find its way to the intended recipient.

Actually, this rudimentary “matchmaker” site worked by having people select their gender, the gender(s) they want their partner to be, their age range, and the age range they want their partner to be in. I then made myself the match for each person in the cross-section of people who met my criteria and people whose criteria I met*, and everybody else was more happily matched with the bagel. Everyone knew it was in jest overall.
*footnote: In order the favor the bagel, if someone selected multiple gender options for them to match with, the website selected the bagel for the match even if one of those genders were my own. The bagel had also previously been established as non-binary (they/them/theirs), for the record.

I made a dating website once where the only possible matches were me or a bagel. People preferred the bagel.

Oof… yeah, that sort of tea kettle of targeted rage and violence seems more like a 4chan user. They also happened to find themself on some of the instances that have reputations of their own (I’m not referring to either of the two instances that you mentioned). Should I pre-emptively type Lembot_0003 to 9999 into my blocked accounts list?

What in particular prompts you to reply that to a user? As in, do you have a plug-in or something that indicates the number of mod actions taken against a user? Or do you recognize usernames and follow them around as they reply? The number of mod actions also doesn’t necessarily reflect the character of a user since there are always some unjust mods, and there are some actions which mods can take that aren’t punitive (ex. pinning posts).
Additionally, it comes across as an ad hominem attack.

I was curious to see who the offending mods/admins were. !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com is a good place to post about Lemmy authorities overstepping their bounds, especially if you feel it was particularly unjust.

This must have been with an alt account of yours? I don’t see any actions taken against your account in the mod log.
- Comment on United Leftists of Hilarious Chaos 4 weeks ago:
The user you’re replying to has made 2 of the 19 posts currently on your home instance’s local front page, both of which are anti-science transphobia. They’re also the only user I’ve seen volunteering to mod the so-called United Leftists of Hilarious Chaos community. In another comment, I cataloged all of the posts currently on HC’s local front page. This is the crowd you run with on that instance.
- Comment on United Leftists of Hilarious Chaos 4 weeks ago:
That community consistently makes up the majority of the front page of HC. Posts by the admins, a Donald Musk account, and a news bot seem to make up most of the remainder. This should be reflective of what content is posted and encouraged on the site.
