@ShaulaEvans @bookstodon have you come across Stuart MacBride, a Scottish author? Very gritty, quite funny. Set in Aberdeen and, later, north east Scotland.
And I'm particularly fond of James Oswald's books, featuring DI McLean and set in Edinburgh. Wonderful characters!
