Immich has an administrative function to re-scan a library’s files. You could probably schedule it, too.

Locking this comment thread because of all the negativity and accusations of ‘low effort’. There’s no rule against low effort posts. Downvote it if you think it sucks.
- Comment on Three years of building no-code software for political organizations 2 months ago:
I’m not Going to remove this post because the article does boast the virtues of self-hosted FOSS. Still, the article isn’t much more than an overview and does very little to educate or instruct. This is relatively low-effort and I hope the votes reflect that.
- Comment on Proxmox VE Helper-Scripts 2 months ago:
Apples and oranges.
Package managers only install a package with defaults. These helper scripts are designed to take the user through a final config that isn’t provided by the package defaults.
No need to be elitist about such things.
- Comment on Switching to the Fediverse for Daily Social Media Use 2 months ago:
This is better-suited for a privacy- or fediverse-oriented community. I applaud the content, but it doesn’t really speak to self-hosting in any meaningful way.
- Comment on And they even get a seizure when you take their ipads away 2 months ago:
I had a similar change of perspective when I became a parent. We do our best to raise our kids to be the best people they can be. But, if we want to do normal people things and that requires some screen time, so be it. I know what’s going on with my kids and idgaf what others think.

Thanks for this thoughtful and considerate response. As a parent myself, your kindness is so appreciated!
- Comment on ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ Cast On How Series Was Last Hurrah For “Boys Club” TV Before Me Too Movement 2 months ago:
You mean the season with no cohesive arc and relies on recycling plots from other shows (mirror universe, aliens taking over bodies to observe reaction to disease, men falling for Orion woman, “Section 31”, etc, etc). This season was so desperate to show “we do that too” it was embarrassing. Even the way they ended the show was worse than just killing it.

Using an LLM doesn’t break the rules. This post’s fate will be determined by your votes.

Surely this is better-suited for the Immich GitHub Discussions page, no?

I know it’s easy internet likes to make a snarky political meme. But, can we not involve Star Trek? Why do we have to pollute this space with toxic politics? It’s everywhere else. Why doesn’t have to be here?

So, use something else, like SeaFile.
- Comment on Video transcoding web interface (self hosted) 6 months ago:
Well, unless you feel like writing that feature into this project, perhaps you could modify your requirements slightly. Copying your local file to a share that’s also mounted to this handbrake-web instance would accomplish the same goal - taking local files and having them processed by this backend service.

- Comment on How do I host Jellyfin in the most secure manner possible? 7 months ago:
Your huge reason is the padlock in the browser bar? I’m not against TLS internally. I do it myself with my own CA. For this particular instance and the unique requirements, it seemed easiest to avoid TLS.
