- Comment on Is TV Dead? Global TV Shipments Hit a Decade Low in 2023 8 months ago:
Make more dumb TVs and my interest in buying a new one goes up significantly. Im actively avoiding buying a new one even though I have to furninsh a good sized living room and all I have right now is a bit small for the space. It’ll work.
- Comment on The New Audi A3 Is Amess With In-Car Subscriptions 8 months ago:
Weird that across many industries they keep adding things consumers hate but get away with it because everyone else is doing it. How do people still believe in the premisis of capitalism when consumer choices range from ineffective to flat out impossible.

Bold move. Who are they going to blame all the online privacy issues once they cant yell about the Chinese? Or are we going to start pretending everythings fine then?
- Comment on A question about debating. 8 months ago:
If I was the good faith party I’d prepare with a list of inflamatory but true claims on the bad faith party and any time they try to sidestep, throw the accusations at them and force them to go on the defensive instead of giving them a platform to try an legitimize their bullshit. If you’re talking about what everyone thinks you are, theres no ‘rising above’ it, you gotta attack it.

They will continue to not build infrastructure and in five years we’ll see this exact headline again. Self fulfilling excuses.
- Comment on What makes fishing as a hobby so appealing that people will fish all hours of the day and in nasty weather? 8 months ago:
I don’t like the idea of fishing if im not gonna eat the fish, even catch and release, like what’s the point of traumatizing and skewering a fishs mouth just to throw it back. It registers like hunting to me, im not gonna do it if im not gonna eat it.

That’s precisely how it’s being used now though. People don’t want things they don’t like to be seen, so they downvote.

Kinda sounds like the board of your company is full of real estate developers who still win if you guys go tits up.
- Comment on How did China get so good at chips and AI? Congressional investigation blames American venture capitalists 9 months ago:
Correct. The free market is only good when it’s enriching them, if it’s helping anyone else be it citizens or another country, then something is wrong and we can pay an economist to tell you so too!

Oh that’s wonderful that the idea is getting recognition like that.
- Comment on Skyrocketing bluesky engagement since opening to the public 9 months ago:
As I understand it thats just federation within their own protocol, however I have seen on Mastodon a group of devs working on bridging the protocols. My canary in the coal mine for Bluesky is how the treat that dev team and so far it seems they’re just letting them do their thing.

That’s the other problem, afaik there’s not really a level for a therapeutic dose. Kinda like the good effects are strongly attached to the bad ones too.

Ahh that makes sense then. Fun fact, cocaine acts as an reuptake inhibitor of seratonin, norepinephrine, and dopanime. So while it does more than just that, that particular function is similar to how SSRI and SNRIs work. Hell if it wasn’t for the side effects I’d probably use Cocaine as an antidepressant.

- Comment on Bluesky is now open for anyone to join | TechCrunch 9 months ago:
Theres a group of devs that have been working on a bridge between the protocols I found out about while digging for info about Bluesky.
- Comment on Bluesky is now open for anyone to join | TechCrunch 9 months ago:
It has some features Id love to see on ActivityPub like account migration between servers, and people are already working on bridges between the protocols. I was also skeptical but if they keep it open source and let it play nice with AP protocall I wont be mad at it. Sure I’d prefer them pushing AP further than doing their own thing but for whatever reason I’m willing to give more benefit of the doubt to them than a service like threads.
- Comment on Report: Apple is testing foldable iPhones, having the same problems as everyone else 9 months ago:
That’s different than people asking for them. Between status symbols and advertising you can sell anything, weather it was asked for or not. On a real level the whole industry of advertising is to get people to buy things they wouldn’t buy otherwise.

Just here to remind everyone while piracy is important, it’s also very umto tech the less tech savy among your acquaintances how to pirate too. Conglomerates only learn when their bottom line is effected after all, so teach all your friends how to hoist that black flag.
- Comment on It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription 9 months ago:
They constantly deliver ahead of schedule for me and I assume it’s exactly because of what you said. They can deprioritize non prime shipments but at some point it just doesn’t make sense, and infact costs money to not move it. Why spend wearhouse space on already sold goods when you could fill that space with things that can make you money you haven’t received yet.
- Comment on It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription 9 months ago:
Amazon moved a distribution center near me and now I basically get what prime delivery used to get me without prime. I can still get free shipping so long as my cart total is high enough, and I think that will remain because even independent retail websites and shippers offer that, so Amazon doesn’t want to give people more reason to use them less. Getting rid of prime was easier than soooooo much other stuff I’ve ditched.
