It probably works correctly. Check through a different instance, you’ll probably find that the community already exists, but it disappeared locally in the 9month wipe.

E.g. !Google@thelemmy.club was created just 1 week ago. Yet it’s found in just a few seconds by other instances.
9 months back from middle of may when our instance came back online.

the group you link to was made within the past 9 months (first post is from 2 moths ago). Anything made in that period is inaccessible from our local instance, so i presume this is the reason.
