- Comment on Mods, what tips or etiquette do you recommend for reporting? 6 months ago:
For sure. Responding is the natural thing to do. But, for me at least, I end up reading every response and deciding if I’m safe to just remove the first reported comment, or enter child comment, or a mix.
Maybe some mods just delete the parent comment and all children to keep it simple, but I try to weigh each response fairly
- Comment on Mods, what tips or etiquette do you recommend for reporting? 6 months ago:
You’re probably better off not interacting with the content that you’re reporting.
I’ll second this. Responding to the problematic content usually just leads to a lot more problematic content that the mods need to sort through.

I’m a month and a half away from a vacation. Eye on the prize.
- Comment on Which is the best Lemmy app for mobile? 6 months ago:
Just want to be sure you’re not thinking of Mlem, which is still in active development. Memmy is showing as removed from TestFlight from me.
- Comment on Which is the best Lemmy app for mobile? 6 months ago:
Memmy was great, but development has stopped with no word from the devs in months.

Right? Give me a Saturday that feels like a 15 year vacation. That might help with burnout.

I don’t visit Reddit much anymore, but isn’t that they way ads have been for awhile over there?
- Comment on Men over 30, what contributes to weight gain besides slower metabolism when you get older? Is it really hard to stay in shape? 8 months ago:
For me, it’s just a complete change to my exercise routine. In my 20s, with no kids, I was running about 5k (3 miles or so) most days, with some weight lifting mixed in. These days, with a full time job, two young kids, and two dogs, plus all of the other responsibilities that seem to come with adulthood, I’m lucky to squeeze in a 15 minute bike ride here and there.
Even with all that, I try my best to eat as healthily as possible. Over the last 5 years I’ve gained about 8 pounds, which could be worse all things considered.

I used to think that when I was a kid. I thought it was someone’s job to watch you go to the bathroom, and then flush the toilet for you when you were done…

- Comment on What is wage theft exactly? 10 months ago:
Here is what I stole from the internet for you:
Wage theft occurs when employers do not pay workers according to the law. Examples of wage theft include paying less than minimum wage, not paying workers overtime, not allowing workers to take meal and rest breaks, requiring off the clock work, or taking workers’ tips.

- Comment on Lemmy is slowly dying while Reddit thriving 1 year ago:
So, I’m going to stick with Lemmy. But I did check out Reddit the other day out of curiosity. I was disappointed/envious over the many active posts in my former favorite subreddits, and realized how much I miss that level of engagement. At the same time, I was also appalled at how terrible their mobile site is. I couldn’t even read comments because of how terribly they were displayed.
Ultimately, I’m hoping that Lemmy catches up in some capacity. I refuse to go back to Reddit, but really do want that type of community discussion again.

Is it possible they actually accessed your account? Alternatively, do you have a lowercase “L” in your name that they could have replaced with a capital “I”?

So, I’m answering this without all of the context. But I think that their statement could, potentially, make sense for some instances. I don’t think it makes sense for most/all general instances.
But imagine, for example, an instance whose sole purpose is pornography (seems like the easiest example). All communities created on that instance show pornography and nothing else. Now imagine someone joins that instance who is completely against porn, and all they do is complain about the porn and report posts for being porn. I think that the admins would be within their right to remove/ban that user for not aligning with their instance’s purpose.
- Comment on Small children are well known to be afraid of voids (closets, under the bed) in their sleeping area. Knowing this, why don't we design children's rooms to eliminate them? 1 year ago:
Fair point. It’s a bunk bed for my two kids. I’m sure there is still a way, but it’d probably require some engineering.
