I found Gridman’s animation jarring and rough with a hype OP and cheesy story. Dynazenon is an overall better production. Gridman Universe is pretty awesome and requires watching both Gridman and Dynazenon for the full experience.
They have some of the best character designs, too.

I mean, there’s a gap between the capabilities of Cleverbot and ChatGPT, as referenced in this very comments section. As much as one wishes it not be so, it would be foolish to ignore past technological leaps—and how people back then laugh them off as impossible.

According to the beta testers, and the Internet, listeners abhorred the LLM localization & actual tone-deaf Speech audio dubbing. Keeping the original dubbings is simply what folks want, esp. if it’s labeled abridged.
Yes, at its current state. Will it stay that way? The tech companies are burning cash in attempts to make it not so. My hunch says even Vocaloid-tier AI dubbing will be enough for a large sector of the audience. Then the human vs. AI dubbing debate could be analogous to debates between lossy (more accessible) vs. lossless (higher quality) audio.

I prefer proper VA dubbing versus AI dubbing. This is more of a question if the viewership prefers AI dub vs. no dub if proper dubs are not yet available.

There are ~25K anime in MyAnimeList. If we assume that there are 250K episodes with a total average length of 25 minutes, each, we are talking about dubbing 6.25 million minutes overall.
Let’s say 80% of them is not yet dubbed, that’ll be 5M minutes. Netflix delayed KaoruHana for at least two months to dub 8 episodes * 25 minutes, so they likely took three months to complete 200 minutes of footage i.e. a rate of 0.3 anime minutes/VA minute. Let’s say there are 100 organizations with three teams of English dubbers each, so the rate can be expanded to 90 anime minutes/VA minute overall.
Clearing the backlog will require 55K minutes. That’s 925 hours/115 business days, or almost a year. I guess it is possible if we wait this long. And this calculation ignores time to select the right VA for the job, paying the amount the VAs request to accept the job (and assuming the studio can afford them), plus a whole lot of other factors I failed to mention or I don’t even know exist.
And this is for just one language (English), and I"m still waiting for the Italian dub of JoJo Part 5.

Just finished The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. I was so, so happy with how it ended. I started watching it a little concerned about cut corners with its animation, but it stuck the landing so well it exceeded my expectations from the moment I saw its announcement visual.
Summer 2025 is a season to never forget, and I doubt there could be anything like this for a long time.
My top #11, #12, and #13 anime are all romance anime, all liked and loved for different reasons. My personal ranking of these are very close together.

It’s unanalagous in that HOI4 sanitized itself of the Holocaust specifically so people wouldn’t be able to roleplay committing xenophobic genocide, unlike the game in question which is specifically designed to let you roleplay a pedophile rapist preying on the already abused.
Fair. Follow-up questions:
- If someone mods HOI4 to include aspects of the Holocaust and all the other Nazi stuff, does that make this particular copy of the game hate material? (IMO: it would be in areas where Nazi symbolism is banned, similar to how Norwegian law makes Dorei to no Seikatsu illegal there. People’s opinions on the material are irrelevant, it’s what the law of the land says)
- Conversely, if Dorei no Seikatsu hypothetically censors or tones down the graphic/explicit portions, but the story essentially remains the same, would it be considered CSAM in Norway?
However it is tangentially analogous in the sense that anime tends to have a bit of a Nazi bar issue with pedophilia thanks to people (who I’m gonna have to assume are well intentioned) unintentionally making room for pedophiles to exist and operate with arguments just like the ones you’re making here.
I see the concern that pedophiles continue to abuse children. There’s degrees of handling the problem, up to and including measures like Chat Control and Britain’s Online Safety Act. Now, do the people have the appetite to be subject to those measures?
Which leads to…
Preventing government abuse and corruption is separate from stopping the distribution of CSAM and protecting children from predators.
I don’t trust governments eroding privacy and surveilling its people because of predators. They pass those types of measures with other goals in mind.

My thesis on why Nazis are attracted to K-On is that low-stakes CGDCT can unintentionally serve as aestheticization of politics.
Fascism attempts to organize the newly proletarianized masses without affecting the property structure which the masses strive to eliminate.
This is opposed to “politicization of art” i.e. “art is ultimately subordinate to political life and thus a result of it, separate from it, but which is attempted to be incorporated for political use as theory relating to the consequential political nature of art”, like how art is utilized in Communist societies.

The comedy has more misses than hits this time; it reminds now that as a spinoff, it won’t reproduce Sorachi’s brand of humor all the time. I think it’s because the skit should take half an episode instead of the full length.
However, it’s compensated by the class’s efforts to give both Shinpachi and Otae a proper sendoff. It’s touching that they want to see the former’s straight man act one last time. He also unwittingly fulfilled his wish not to transfer just by being himself (and giving his “aunt” the push to confess to her crush and later get married).
I just realized way too late, Otae is way older than Shinpachi, but why are they both in 3-Z?
