That’s a shame. I’ve only seen one of the CMs where Iguchi Yuka made 20 dialectical dubs. She seemed to have worked really hard to do her best here.

I’m getting glimpses on why the manga is highly acclaimed. This is still largely at a stage where Araki is trying to not to show Stands. In fact, this is the first episode where Stands are explicitly hinted at. The abilities are utterly unique. The Boomboom family feels like episodic villains but they’re well written and it’s easy for the viewer to hate them.

Mountain Tim’s ability would be familiar to Part 5 watchers, and he’s showing his badassery when he tried to apprehend “Johnny”. They have no idea that they’re being set up to go… boom.

I can confidently say I would prefer a source-faithful (i.e. romance-centric) adaptation of this one. Not KyoAni’s best work, storywriting-wise.

It does not detract that aside from the story, everything else is done with rigor and love: the world around it, the VAs, the comedy, the animation in general. The Age of Electricity has come, and with it, clearer air. Inako and Kihachi can finally see Mt. Fuji from a distance.

Summer 2026 is a Bandori season for me, as I watched BanG Dream! Yumemita and Ganso! BanG Dream Chan. I’m generally very happy with Yumemita. As far as band dynamics go, it’s very constructive and funny and I love how its writing balances the specialties of the original three seasons (pure CGDCT) and AveMyGo (serious drama). Viola is also a standout villain.

The last episode of Ganso will be out in a few days. Although each episode is a minute long, there are way more hits than misses and can be downright hilarious. The only issue is the high barrier of entry to get all of the jokes. It’s highly recommended that one has watched all of the main TV seasons first.

Now that I’ve finished Yumemita, I’m watching 20th Century Electricity Catalog (I stand by using this versus “Sparks of Tomorrow”—personal preference). As a standalone series from zero context, it’s hilarious with the usual Kyoani finish, more or less. I’m up to Episode 12 yet, and knowing (but haven’t read) the background behind the source material, I feel that the anime should have been more faithful to it. The way the chemistry ended up between Kihachi and Inako, with their VAs, makes me think a straightforward romance between the two of them would make for a better anime.

The whole laboratory with its lighting, ambiance, and steam brings me back to me playing Skyrim in a Dwemer ruin. The banner reminds me of the climax of TES III.

If the internet is any indication, liking Mushoku for its story is unpopular or at least polarizing

Granted, I only watched Demon Slayer through Mugen Train, maybe it gets better after that?

I only watched until the Swordsmith Village Arc. I would consider the Entertainment District Arc its highest point by far.

Storytelling, when done well, is powerful. Seriously. 🤯

After one of my several rewatches of A Place Further Than The Universe, I earnestly prayed that I can write stories like it.

My best single anime episode 😭

I didn’t mind the pacing on any of Steins;Gate, but maybe that’s me appreciating the slow parts as relatively cozy Slice of Life.

Penultimate episode of Ganso! BanG Dream Chan. We got the CRYCHIC reunion Soyo was deeply wishing for, but at what cost? I think it all started because of Ave Mujca’s has to cover the costs of covering Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra”
