Was supposed to watch Witch Hat Atelier from day 1, only to take a detour by watching Akane-banashi out of my love for rakugo. Was not disappointed, Akane’s final performance of “Jugemu” is Episode of the Season material. Artstyle and animation is gorgeous, and the character designs more so.

Am back to catching up with WAH.

Fullmetal Alchemist sequel looks good /s

Arale hit that JoJo pose perfectly. Miyako has a similar vibe to Yamada Ryo.

Nonoka makes me think of that iconic Gojo scene.

Mirai Saiko! Blend W is but a conceptual pilot for this anime.

Can’t speak specifically for “-ception”, but English subbers sometimes use Westernisms for untranslateable Japanese idioms. An example that stood out for me is in Steins;Gate. The original 2ch inside joke “nullpo… gah!” joke was translated as “never gonna… give you up”.

This season in retrospective and this episode in particular felt like a (very well-done) prologue to the actual story. My eyes and ears are blessed to witness this show.

If what the manga readers say are true, I’m concerned on how the pacing would be like going forward, to the point that I may not watch S2 onwards until the manga ends. Based on what I can almost call the curse of the Shounen Jump adaptations, it’s reasonable for me to assume that Akane-banashi’s story tone will shift in a not-preferable direction.

Last point: I don’t like cat eye glasses, but it fit very well with Iwashimizu-sensei.

As a manga reader, I agree. That’s the only thing I don’t like about the work.

For Summer 2026, I will continue watching Ganso BanG Dream Chan, and my other seasonal may be Yumemita, so it’s gonna be a Bandori season.

Wildcard choice would be Sparks of Tomorrow i.e. Twentieth Century Electricity Catalogue. I prefer using the latter even if it’s the longer title, it just goes really hard.

The meeting between Akane and Issho went about more or less how i expected. This episode felt like a breather after the hype of the previous one. I wonder how Episode 12 would be like. The Kappore dance was foreshadowed in the OP.

This has been a great watch so far.

NegaPosi Angler is very underrated with a very solid story. It’s one of the shows that captured the chosen-family dynamic the best.

Read somewhere it’ll be a multimedia project. It seems to be primed to be a gacha game someday.

1. The OG BanG Dream series. Born too late to define the CGDCT genre (that went to K-On). Born too early to radicalize it (that went to Bocchi the Rock). MyGO!!! and Ave Mujica, fortunately, capitalized on the post-Bocchi surge of girls band genre.

2. Perinne Monogatari. I find this the superior series to Nobody’s Boy Remi. Both overlapped in the seasons they aired.
