For me it’s the constant suggestions of other communities and posts on my feed of joined subs.
Next thing I knew my feed was slowly filling up with rage bait, which I never had a problem with a third party app, and I’d close the app angrier and outraged than when I started.
It’s nicer here, lol.

- Comment on Norway to increase minimum age limit on social media to 15 to protect children 4 weeks ago:
I can understand the intent behind this, but I wonder if it will actually prevent kids bypassing these restrictions. Much less, in my own country minors that shouldn’t be on platforms have public accounts.
Without proper enforcement of such restrictions and/or actual technical solutions to enforce this on the user’s end, this is just feel-good signaling.

And more over the electorate is calcified along party lines where the outcomes for either side is perceived as being stark and dire. I suspect this means concerns like these might get stifled even if it is held by both parties.

I know it’s a pain, but what’s to stop us from using download-clis? In theory I could “collect” the urls that are recommended to me from my home page, call the clis, click all the videos to update my recommendations then close the browser.

Tbf, I did have a Lemmy user passionately argue Joe Rogan has never had a white supremacist on his show – I pointed at Alex Jones and my notif bubble was red for a few days there 😅
- Comment on Microsoft won’t let you close OneDrive on Windows until you explain yourself 1 year ago:
I worry about the telemetry and customizing my OS to exactly the way I want.
Things like swapping Ctrl and Alt without needing to spring extreme protocols or run software that is a security risk. It’s just a couple of toggles on Linux.
But it’s a “to each their own” kinda stuff 😅 After work I can’t look at Windows anymore.

I’m not 100% off Reddit, I still venture over there for my WarHammer faction updates. But holy shit, I dipped my toe outside that circle recently and it’s a cesspool of anger.

It’s interesting you claim “they certainly haven’t had a user noticeable change for the last six years”, and then cite a feature addition “on android” which was implemented on the iPhone 13.

Yup. I worked as a locksmith for a decade there that reproduced immobilizer keys that were ‘dealer only.’ My tool allow me do all sorts of wild shit that was outside my field of interest – but resetting/setting the door panels on Fords was super nifty.
