- Comment on You can't legally drink and drive, but you have to present your driver's license to prove you're old enough to drink. 1 week ago:
You have to show ID. It doesn’t have to be a driver’s license. Many states, mine included, issue cards that are solely for identification and that’s it.

It is funny how 40 in the fall sees most folks bundling up with everything they have, and 40 the spring is shorts and sandals weather.
I don’t stop wearing shorts until it’s about 0F out or the wind is insane. Not to like shovel the driveway or anything being out for extended periods, but going out shopping or whatever is fine. Today was 0 with a -20 windchill and I went out in shorts, a sweatshirt, and a baseball cap.

Silly OP, we’re all groups of atoms already!
- Comment on Why do I push people away if I'm so lonely? 1 week ago:
I would recommend starting by joining a group around a topic you’re interested in. Local climbing club or anime group or sports enthusiasts or gaming clan or whatever. Something in person. Use that group to practice social skills and learn body cues with topics you’re already familiar and confident with, and that in turn will help you branch out to other topics when you’re ready with the same level of communication.
It is a learned skill, and it takes time, but if you never take the time to learn it, then it will always feel foreign to you. Does that make sense? Like so many things in life, you have to get past the fear to get to the reward. That can be difficult, and you might get hurt when you put yourself out there, but I believe if you keep with it, and you’re determined to make a change, you can absolutely overcome anything and find a social group that complements you.
Good luck, friend. You can do it. We believe in you.

- Comment on YSK the four rules of firearm safety 2 weeks ago:
Modification to the first one, at least for me — I don’t care if I literally just watch you check it in front me of me before handing it over, I’m still checking. Always. I would expect others to do the same. First, it is just a reassurance, and second, it shows I actually know how to check it myself.
Finally, I didn’t see it listed, but keep the safety on until you’re ready. This kinda goes with the “keep finger off trigger” rule, in that it offers an extra degree of protection.
- Comment on How do I deliver an American eBay package to my hotel? 2 weeks ago:
That’s the idea. But definitely check with the hotel if they will accept and how long they’ll hold it for. Some hotels only accept guest packages for a few days before their check-in; they’re usually not going to want to hold it for a week or two. Maybe something you can work on with the seller to time the shipment appropriately?

- Comment on In a way, a gift card is kind of the opposite of a credit card 5 weeks ago:
All the time.
47% of American adults have unused gift cards. The average value per person is $187, and the total value of these unspent funds in the US annually is approximately $23 billion.
Higher-income individuals are most likely to have unredeemed gift cards, with 62% of this demographic reporting unused cards.
Nearly 29% of Americans have kept a gift card so long that it expired, and 25% have lost at least one gift card.

First, let me say I appreciate both this and your main response. I agree it is a backwards mentality.
But if I may offer some feedback on the remainder of your post: in my opinion, anyone that use words or substitutions like “M$” or “Micro$oft” or whatever immediately strike me as a person not engaging in good faith, and trying to rile others up for likes or upvotes; but not looking to engage in serious discourse.
You’re welcome to your opinion, and I might even agree with it and the sentiment behind it, but using 20 year old memes that were only leveraged by teenagers when WinXP was retired and likely never bought a Microsoft product anyway probably isn’t going to resonate.
Please do not take this as my endorsement of Microsoft — it is not — but I also want to have a meaningful discussion and not just trade memes and quotes back and forth in a big circle-jerk against “M$”.
Finally, please know my intention here is not to be mean to or humiliate you. Text doesn’t have the nuance of intonation and inflection of an in-person conversation, and this message may suffer from the same. Please feel free to message me if you’d like to discuss further outside this forum.

Crypto is just a modern-day pyramid scheme.
Some may get rich and serve as examples of why others should join, some may break even, but the vast majority of those participating will lose.
In the end, the only winning move is not to play.

iPad + Magic Keyboard. It’s my primary device. Pretty easy when you interact with virtually everything in a browser. Plus it gets ridiculous battery life and mine has cellular connectivity.
I do still have a Windows box for gaming, but I don’t browse the web with it; it just boots into Steam Big Picture mode.
