- Comment on Stop Wasting Pumpkins! 3 weeks ago:
Chickens do like to eat pumpkin. I always get 5-6 pumpkins and after they are done as decoration, they’re fed to the chickens. Not at all wasted.

- Comment on Beelink have open-sourced their Multi-Functional EX Docking Station for mini PCs 3 weeks ago:
I have two of these. One is my desktop, the other is running unraid with an hba card. I’m very happy with them.
- Comment on Chat, what do you see? 4 weeks ago:
When I was a kid, I did that a lot with the microscope my parents got me.
- Comment on Should devs tell people about launch bugs in advance? “It’s an interesting problem” says Starfield and Skyrim designer 5 weeks ago:
If there are non-breaking bugs I’m OK with that listed in release notes, but other than that I completely agree with you. Too often there are major issues at release, especially with Bethesda.

My Subaru EV has this. They just call it enhanced cruise control. I mean, that’s what it is. It also monitors for driver inattentiveness.
- Comment on Chromecast / Firestick Self Host Replacement 2 months ago:
I haven’t done it other than for testing, but you can pair a fire Stick remote to a PC using Bluetooth and it works with Kodi.

Yes

Republican acts are official. Democrat acts are not official.

Doesn’t matter. He’ll be dead before they’re done litigating it.

Do that while explaining how that contract clause works!
- Comment on Need recommandations for a home server 6 months ago:
Try getting a used server. You can find one on labgopher. For the budget you have, don’t expect something great but it’ll be a start.
- Comment on Abortion restrictions tied to higher rates of intimate partner homicide, says study 6 months ago:
Unfortunately, they see that as a feature.
- Comment on Older patient gamers: what is your preferred gaming platform? 6 months ago:
Similar for me. I went with PopOS this time, and it all just works. I’m thinking of switching to KDE Neon, just because I’m a KDE fan. One piece of advice I have is to have your home directory on it’s own so that if you do switch distros, you just install to the system drive and you don’t affect your data.
- Comment on Older patient gamers: what is your preferred gaming platform? 6 months ago:
In my mid 50’s. I use a steam deck and my PC running Linux.
- Comment on Just a bunch of enclosures 7 months ago:
You should take a look at getting sas enclosures. They’re pretty cheap, like $200 for a 16 bay. That will be so much more reliable.
- Comment on A German state is ditching Windows and Microsoft Office for Linux and LibreOffice on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions 7 months ago:
I used to work at Merrill Lynch, we had a Linux desktop pilot. We were an 80k company but had less than 1k users in the program, and most of us were capable of self-support.
It’s definitely doable at scale especially since most apps are web based these days, but there certainly is a retraining effort needed for support, and Windows would still be there. For most organizations, that’s not worth the effort.

- Comment on Nintendo Switch emulator suyu continues on from yuzu - first release is up 8 months ago:
Reminds me of the Mac sound ‘sosumi’. Apple had an agreement with Apple Records that they wouldn’t make a computer that could play music. ‘Sosumi’ was one of the default sounds and is pronounced ‘So sue me’.

So is PornHub, xVideos and Playboy.
- Comment on EA just added classics like Dungeon Keeper, SimCity 3000, and Populous on Steam 8 months ago:
I’m OK with them wanting to keep making money from it as long as they update it for compatibility with newer operating systems. Selling something they have completely abandoned us not cool.
- Comment on What's Your Preferred Server Monitoring Method? 8 months ago:
Yes.
- Comment on Taylor Swift getting to the trade center. 8 months ago:
I stood and watched the first tower fall. One of my brothers was in 5 World Trade, another in 7 World Trade. They’re both still alive, but saw people jump. I get it’s been a long time, and people should be able to make memes like this. To this day, I still can’t watch any shows or TV shows even remotely related to the towers falling. This definitely still affects people.
