  As some others already answered the question, let me bring up a fun fact. In german we have a saying that goes “to not see the forest because all of the trees”, which in english would be probably called chess blindness.

  To listen to another man express painful emotions means they may have to acknowledge that they are not masters of the universe and perfect, stoic gods in every way and in every aspect of their lives.

  and I guess I recognize that kind of resentment, like “why/how the hell is him able to be so vulnerable and I not?”

  If a 5star chef is making a dish, I wouldn’t know what they put in it anyways, so I think this analogy still works.

  If they would show me the recipe/source code, I probs would be astonished, like “Oh yeah, now I can taste the $(whatever ingredient) in it!”, but wouldn’t be able to put it together like them
