I’m also postponing upgrading my rpi4 os to 64bit one, although it’d unblock a lot of my small projects since many docker containers don’t support the 32bit os anymore. I’m just very lazy.

What “childlike view”? Do you remember which jobs were considered “essential” during COVID-19 or were you too young?

I haven’t used them but umbrel looks promising: umbrel.com
I’m using a synology and as others have said, it’s pretty friendly to non-techies, with lots of point and click configurations

GDPR Article 7:
Art. 7(3): Users must be able to withdraw consent at any time, and it must be as easy to withdraw as to give → This is why an opt-out must exist.

You shouldn’t turn it off because Apple makes millions of $$$ from it; you should turn it off because personal data collection is just bad

Not true. They’re required by law.

I tried to get into this game but after seeing how deep the mechanics go I gave up. It’s not like Rimworld where you can enjoy the game without grasping all the mechanics, zomboid requires you to invest in it to actually enjoy it, which I’ve lacked the time for.

- Comment on Plex’s crackdown on free remote streaming access starts this week - Ars Technica 4 weeks ago:
This is my understanding and I’m surprised with the negative reaction. I think jellyfin is the better alternative being FOSS but this is not the reason.
- Comment on Plex’s crackdown on free remote streaming access starts this week - Ars Technica 4 weeks ago:
I’ve never used jellyfin, but do they also host proxy servers? AFAIK plex does and its costing them money, hence the need for paywalling this. You can still use tailscale and reverse proxy to allow remote streaming

Depending on Core’s dialogue from now on, I’m cancelling my preorder. Pebble is either FOSS or it’s dead.

- Comment on Valve Announces New Steam Machine, Steam Controller & Steam Frame 1 month ago:
I’m in a similar boat. I have both PS5 and series X. Consoles are getting enshittified at an increasing pace. I welcome valve improving Linux compatibility as they invest more in their devices. I don’t think I’ll be getting Sony or Microsoft’s next consoles.

I’d argue it is resistant. Lemmy is federated, which means smaller instances, making it easier to detect this kind of activity. Crime in a city vs crime in a town situation
- Comment on Why is it called "overseas" even if a dispora population move to a place connected by land? 1 month ago:
Language is a living thing, it evolves as time progresses.
“Oversea” is currently synonymous with “abroad”. When it was first came to use, geography wasn’t as much advanced as it is today.

The richest man on earth did a nazi salute, lets not forget. Far right shifted closer to center already…
- Comment on Framework supporting far-right racists? 2 months ago:
Isn’t this a long running trick? Label far right as centrism and a new far right breeds. That’s how we got here in the last ~20 years, no?
- Comment on Framework supporting far-right racists? 2 months ago:
I’ve read the article about DHH and was horrified by it. I agree with you. Don’t know what to feel anymore. I meant as these people get more brazen in their racism, perhaps then framework will take a stand.
- Comment on Framework supporting far-right racists? 2 months ago:
Disappointed in framework but trying not to be a purist when it comes to human rights. Right to repair is a human right too and framework is doing good work on that front. I think they’ll realize their mistakes as the figures they let into their “big tent” keep showing their true colors.
