- Comment on U16 Social Media Ban - Senate 1hr debate before the vote, some time tonight on the livestream 2 months ago:
But that’s the problem, this bill does absolutely nothing to rectify that. They could try and hold the companies to account (good luck with Elon on Trumps team), or even better, they could snap back to reality and actually look at educating kids how to navigate and use these online spaces.
Do you think that kids at 16, suddenly getting access with no prior experience or knowledge of how the systems work will be better?
- We have existing regulation about media and who can watch it, we shortly update this and apply it as well as we can to be technologies.
- Children should be taught how to verify information and utilise online spaces healthily, like it or not, these spaces will be around in some form.
- Parents should be taught how to work with their children and should be held accountable, same as if i let my 13 yr old go to an R rated movie.
There are much worse places than instagram and tiktok, that won’t be following any government recommendations. This bill does nothing but enhance the surveillance state, as everyone will be required to verify their identity, what the government is really doing is fighting online anonymity, but please just think of those poor little kids.
I agree with all your criticism of social media, I hate it (this is the only platform I am on) but if they pass this bill, social media will still be round, fucking up the world, just the same.
- Comment on NBN Co to accelerate higher speed tiers and launch multi-gigabit speeds in September 2025 3 months ago:
They already lowered the wholesale prices earlier in the year to try and promote users to higher tiers and the helcos were all “passing these savings on to the end user could be bad, so we’ll have to think about it” and then everyone went back to being price gouged

The whole board (except CEO) resigned last month because they couldn’t agree in a buyout option

Especially do it for 23andMe because they’re going out of business and will just be doing it to increase the sale price

- Comment on Can anyone suggest some good co-op games for two people? 5 months ago:
In the first one, you could drop in and out of each other’s games and you would share progress on relevant missions. In number 2 you would join one players game, only they would get credit for any progress and it tethered you together. So although technically co-op, it was a significant downgrade from the first game and didn’t lend itself to the open world nature of the game, more like being player 2.

I have a co-op buddy too and heaps of good suggestions from others here. Two that I’ve been enjoying as 2 person co-op:
Wartales: started this after completing BG3 and it was a real interesting change in thinking. This is fantasy party adventure, but you run a team of mercenaries, so it’s more about the team build and strategy, rather than the specific character focus that you have in BG3.
The Wild Eight: an isometric survival, crafting, set in a plane crash in the snow. Some story, discovery elements included.

But not 2, because the sequel doesn’t have true co-op

The dynamic story telling in Wyldermyth is fantastic, love interesting character arcs that can develop.

It’s really just kicking the can down the street. My expectation is if they got into power, they would say the figures are more than they realised, say they have to fix Labor’s economic mess and they’ll come back to it when the economy is in the black. Like others, I would have seen it as viable 20 years ago, but it is just so expensive, they’ve cancelled builds overseas because of cost blowouts and Europe is turning off reactors because of all the renewable energy in their grid. The claim it would be cheaper annoys me the most, as it is an outright lie. All the liberals do is shovel shit and coal

It grinds my gears for so many reasons, but most of all, it creates a huge vulnerability with little or no benefit to the end user. Needlessly adding extra online exposure, just so they can data mine.

Shotgun, ak-47, pistol, katana. I don’t want to live long term in a zombie apocalypse, just need the firepower for a bit of fun before I go. After I run out of ammo for the shotgun and the AK, I use the pistol to kill myself - the katana is just in case I get caught short at close range
