- Comment on Demon Lord 2099 • Maou 2099 - Episode 5 discussion 1 week ago:
To some extent this feels like episode 2; the last few episodes didn’t feel like they really moved along the main conflict with Marcus, but this one really sets up a proper encounter between Veltol (with more of his power available) and Marcus’ minion(s). There’s a point that ties back to everything else, not just a semi-SOL episode dealing with something random.
Not that I didn’t enjoy the last few episodes, but clear progress towards the main conflict is always appreciated in this medium.
- Comment on "I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!" Anime Adaptation Announced with Teaser Visual, PV 4 weeks ago:
I read a couple volumes of the LN and it was goofy fun. Nothing mind blowing, but a fun take on the isekai formula. It got even better once it got out of its own way and acknowledged how silly it all was, because really there’s nothing evil about this dude or his empire at all.
- Comment on Maou 2099 • Demon Lord 2099 - Episode 2 discussion 4 weeks ago:
I can’t tell how comedic this anime is intending to be, or whether the source material is supposed to be comedic, but man I find it funny. Every time I think something serious is about to happen it’s a coin flip on whether it’s actually serious or whether it’s some goofy shit that has me rolling.
- Comment on Ubisoft's Board is Launching an Investigation Into The Company Struggles 1 month ago:
I finished the main story last night and I basically agree with you. It’s got plenty of issues, but overall it’s fun. It is neither the 9/10 game of most reviews I saw nor the 4/10 game that people want it to be.
I think my main issue is that it wants to have a story about the underworld and how you can’t trust anyone and you’re a huge underdog just trying to survive but it doesn’t want to commit to it. It feels thematically janky in places and ways that feel design-by-committee. It fills the shoes of Shadows of the Empire decently enough, but it feels like it was trying to be 1313 and failed.
- Comment on Star Wars Outlaws - Review Thread 2 months ago:
Yep, it sounds pretty much exactly like what people expected.
Honestly, I’m on a bit of a Star Wars kick lately and it’s been long enough since I’ve played an Ubisoft open world to find some enjoyment, so I might pick this up. But it certainly doesn’t sound like it’s going to blow me away.
- Comment on Actors demand action over 'disgusting' video game sex scenes 2 months ago:
Yeah, there was a whole kerfuffle about it because all the files were still on the disc, therefore some jurisdictions re-rated the game to some version of adults only. Rockstar definitely did all the development work to get that sex in the game, they just decided not to show it in normal gameplay.
- Comment on "I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time" New Key Visual, PV 3 months ago:
Love this light novel. Far too relatable.
Idk if it’s just the angles but the art looks a little off. Hopefully works out well when it airs, just gives me weird vibes.
- Comment on My wacky Stanly Parable-inspored game called DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON (To Delete The Multiverse) finally reached 5000+ wishlists today! 3 months ago:
I went from being glad this goofy-looking game is getting some attention to realizing I wasn’t one of those 5000 wishlists already. Oops.
Game looks like it’ll be a fun little experience, I’m looking forward to it!

- Comment on "Rick and Morty: The Anime" New Trailer Announces August 15th Premiere 4 months ago:
There actually is a Rick and Morty short in this style and with this director from a few years back.
It’s not exactly peak Rick and Morty or anything, but it’s so surreal and weird that it’s kind of enthralling: youtu.be/-kdltv_CSHE
- Comment on Why don't we put butter and sour cream on French fries? They're basically like tiny skinless baked potatoes... 4 months ago:
Unironically my two favorite sauces for fries. I attribute a not insignificant portion of my weight gain pre-COVID on slathering cafeteria fries with too much mayo.
- Comment on "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint" Anime Adaptation Announced With Key Visual 4 months ago:
Oh hell yeah. The web novel is fantastic, the manwha is a great adaptation, and if they provide this a bit of care it should be a great show.
That said, it takes a while to really get going. The physical manwha started coming out and the entire first two volumes are by and large just okay. Depending on the pacing of the first season it might not blow up the way it could or should simply because it won’t be very good yet.
- Comment on Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals 4 months ago:
It is genuinely ridiculous how much content there is in this game for the price. Like, a lot of it looks like an excuse to play the same levels a dozen times with minor variations, but then there are tons of levels, lots of events, ongoing updates with new content of all types, so many different towers and upgrades to play with, community maps to add even more variety… It looks like I’ve played over 200 games and I have so much of the game that I haven’t even touched yet.
- Comment on Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals 4 months ago:
Just to throw a few other options on the pile:
- Valheim is more combat oriented, but is probably my favourite survival crafting game after Subnautica. You’re playing vikings trying to earn their way into Valhalla. I die a lot. Very fun.
- Planet Crafter is more chill, more jank, and more linear, but it’s a survival crafting game that is clearly heavily inspired by Subnautica. You are sent to a mars-like planet to terraform it as part of your prison sentence. It’s a great podcast game, just build and explore and watch numbers go up.
- Less on the survival crafting side of things, the environmental storytelling is also really good in Outer Wilds and Return of the Obra Dinn. Very different games, but they were actually what I went to after Subnautica to scratch that itch and it worked weirdly well.
- Comment on “Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra” Anime Adaptation Announced With New PV 4 months ago:
If they put the effort in this could be a really good show. The LN has a lot of rough edges, but on the whole it’s a great concept that goes in interesting directions. But the art does a surprising amount of heavy lifting; the depicted horror of the characters to those unfamiliar with them creates this interesting dichotomy with how a lot of the day-to-day interactions proceed, and it would be really easy to just gloss over that and make a fairly generic isekai.
- Comment on Spy X Family Code: White Film Releases Blu-Ray & DVD On July 31 5 months ago:
Code: White was so much fun in theaters. It kind of runs into similar problems to a lot of other anime movies, with the non-canon status-quo excuse for a big fight, but Spy X Family naturally handles that better than many series and it turned out to be a ton of fun.
!The fact that the fate of the world rests on Anya not taking a dump is just peak comedy, I don’t care what anyone says.!<

This is how I do it. I may never stop actually having that gmail account in use due to the number of accounts tied to it, but I at least can use other services going forward without losing tons of stuff.
- Comment on Microsoft Places uses AI to find the best time for your next office day 6 months ago:
Honestly, it’s halfway correct, if I need to go into the office I’d rather be able to interact with people IRL. Most of my work unit tries to be there on Mondays for that reason.
The caveats are that I’d still rather not be there at all and that our office sucks so most people are at least as effective at home anyways.

- Comment on Dome Keeper is getting a major content update and multiplayer is coming 6 months ago:
I only played a few hours of Dome Keeper but it was quite a bit of fun. There’s already a fair amount of variety possible in the runs but not so much that this isn’t appreciated.
- Comment on Framework won’t be just a laptop company anymore 6 months ago:
I’m curious to see where they go next. A lot of modern consumer electronics have repairability and upgradeability problems, but I also wouldn’t expect they’d be able to crack into the phone market as easily as the laptop market, so presumably there’s some more niche target they have.
- Comment on Framework won’t be just a laptop company anymore 6 months ago:
Framework is a private company so they need to agree to be bought. I don’t know enough about the leadership to be able to say the likelihood of accepting an offer, but it’s not just a thing that automatically happens because Dell has a lot of money.
- Comment on [DISC] 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess - Chapter 228 6 months ago:
I immediately knew Ex was going to give in but I laughed when he was like “wait, this can’t possibly be my fault!”
I’m curious how long it’s going to be before the knight tries to rescue the princess and she’s just like “no thanks, this is better.”
- Comment on Spy x Family Code: White makes $4.8 million on debut weekend 6 months ago:
From what I can find it’s okay. It’s not up there with the big shonen movies which are in the $10+ million range but, as an example, the slime movie got $1.4 million in its opening weekend.
Anecdotally, I saw it in IMAX and the theatre was mostly full, whereas I’ve only seen that for the Digimon 02 movie and Dragon Ball Super Hero in the past couple of years.

Hey, nothing wrong with being excited about discovering new things about a show you love! Even the German word bit, it’s super prevalent in fantasy (especially Japanese fantasy), so most people have had that exact realization at some point with some show, so now it just feels obvious haha.
- Comment on [deleted] 7 months ago:
A lot of the framing of modern Japanese fantasy derives from Dragon Quest. There is some MMO-specific stuff mixed in at times, like the raiding terms, but the tropes mostly shake out from a time well before the Internet was a thing.
The bit about old clans and such is especially not an MMO-specific thing, it’s just life. It’s something everyone experiences, and the exploration of those themes in varied ways account for a large part of why the show is so universally praised.
That said, if the MMO framing helps you to get a deeper understanding of the show you go for it. Part of appreciating art is finding your own ways to engage and relate with it.
