The Vending Machine one is actually pretty good.
- Comment on Can’t upgrade your PC to Windows 11? Buy a new one, is Microsoft’s laughable solution 5 weeks ago:
My computer can’t upgrade to Win11 and I am buying a new one, but I’m putting Linux on it.
- Comment on I always get them confused. 1 month ago:
The joke is so obvious there’s no need to comment on it so others, including myself, are using this as an opportunity to post our opinions on the difference between sci-fi and fantasy.
- Comment on I always get them confused. 1 month ago:
I would argue that science fiction and fantasy are the same thing and the only difference is the explanation for how all the cool stuff works.
Functionally, there’s no real difference between a portal that takes the characters to another world using a wormhole and one that does it through through magic. Just like how there’s no difference between Vulcans/Klingons/Wookies and Elves/Dwarves/Beastmen. Both are intelligent non-humans.
- Comment on Lord of the SCIENCE 2 months ago:
I could be entirely wrong about this but isn’t it in universe lore that Elves don’t see the curvature of the world and that’s how they can see so far?
- Comment on Never store gerbils up your ass, we went over this! 2 months ago:
I thought it said “his shole had teeth” and it took me awhile to both notice the B and to really be it was for censorship.

Kind of reminds me of the left pad incident only much worse.
- Comment on Sex work would probably be less stigmatized in a currencyless society 4 months ago:
I don’t think you’d have prostitution in a currencyless society. They wouldn’t be prostitutes at that point.
- Comment on Microsoft really wants Local accounts gone after it erases its guide on how to create them 4 months ago:
I bought a SteamDeck as a way to test and see what works and what doesn’t on Linux. So far all my games have run with no issues.
I’m likely going to be posting and searching through a lot of Linux forums as Win10 gets closer to EOL.
- Comment on Microsoft really wants Local accounts gone after it erases its guide on how to create them 4 months ago:
This is what I’m going to have to do as well since my computer isn’t compatible with Win11. The only thing I’m worried about is gaming.
- Comment on Kate Mulgrew told Rick Berman she wanted a gay character on the Voyager bridge 4 months ago:
What’s funny is the “blonde bombshell in a catsuit” turned out to be one of the best characters on the show.
- Comment on The Fallout Bible: a collection of lore documents compiled for use in the development of the original (cancelled) Fallout 3 7 months ago:
I didn’t realize there would be sex scenes in it. Glad to know before I started watching. I miss the days when it was pretty safe to watch anything. I wish all these producers would realize that some people have families and that we don’t need sex scenes and nudity in everything.
- Comment on The incredible pixel-smashing game Noita got a huge free update 7 months ago:
Noita is way too hard for me. I finally managed to beat the “tutorial” and that was good enough for me.
- Comment on Legend of Zelda 7 months ago:
Majora’s Mask is the best Zelda game. However, Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. The setting, art style, and musical score all combined perfectly to make a game that was both really fun and relaxing. No Zelda game since has ever matched the feeling of sailing to the Great Sea soundtrack.
- Comment on You can swap Quark's head with Al from Quantum Leap and never notice 7 months ago:
Wow. I didn’t realize at first that this picture already did the fact swap. I was mentally swapping their heads before I realized.
- Comment on Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads 7 months ago:
Just imagine trying to fight a boss and suddenly the game cuts out to show you an ad.
That is definitely way too invasive. Plugging something on to a Roku TV shouldn’t enable them to show you ads through that other device.
- Comment on Outrage as Oklahoma Republican’s bill labels Hispanic people ‘terrorists’ 9 months ago:
I agree. The Republicans have really let the mask drop and shown who they really are. Biden wasn’t lying when he said democracy was on the ballot this year.

I’ll sometimes tag Lemmy communities in my mastodon posts. The only thing I dislike about it is how Lemmy displays tags in the post title. There’s got to be some way to fix it so it’s not so off-putting.
- Comment on Dragon's Dogma 2 - 18 Minutes of Fighter, Thief, Warrior, and Sorcerer Gameplay 10 months ago:
I’m pretty excited about this since Dragon’s Sogma was one of my favorite games.
- Comment on Why would I want to use the multi-desktop functionality in Windows 11? 11 months ago:
Another use I haven’t seen mentioned is that it’s good when you only have a single monitor. You can easily use shortcut keys to flip between the desktops. I could have my remote connection to another computer in one desktop and my local stuff in another and easily switch between the two.
- Comment on Star Wars Movies (at literature/culture) are canon! 1 year ago:
Honestly that would be a rather funny scene in a time travel episode.
- Comment on Am I? Who knows 1 year ago:
Transporters are inconsistent in how they work in Star Trek. The transporters work however the writers of the episode need it to work for the plot. Sometimes it’s a clone machine and sometimes it’s something else.
The Barclay episode I was referring to was Realm of Fear.
- Comment on Am I? Who knows 1 year ago:
Create a way to merge both Yous together after and you have a pretty neat failsafe for away missions.
- Comment on Am I? Who knows 1 year ago:
There was that one episode with Barclay that showed he was conscious during transport and also showed that people could exist inside the matter stream (or whatever the technobabble is).
- Comment on BookWyrm.world 1 year ago:
I just created an account there and when it came time to add books, a whole bunch of books I read didn’t even show up. I’ll have to look more into it when I have more time.
- Comment on Overachieve much? 1 year ago:
It’s such a crazy display on just how advanced the Federation really is that a small group of rogue Star Fleet officers were able to successfully leapfrog the cloaking tech to such a degree. There was another episode where the Romulans tried and failed to create that same technology but I can’t remember if it was before or after Pegasus.
In DS9, a Vorta makes a comment about Star Fleet engineers being able to turn rocks into replicators and he really wasn’t that far off.
- Comment on Overachieve much? 1 year ago:
The best part of the whole thing is that it worked.
- Comment on It would be less dramatic though 1 year ago:
Wouldn’t blowing up also render the console inoperative? I would thing safely shutting down would be preferable to exploding it the end result is still a dead console.
- Comment on Stonks go brrrr 1 year ago:
Nog and Jake’s Business venture was one of my favorite DS9 episodes. I’m still upset that Jake didn’t become a business man when he got older. I always thought it would have completed their story arc: the Ferengi joins Star Fleet and the Star Fleet officer’s son goes into business earning profit.
- Comment on Amazon To Start Running Ads In Prime Video Series & Movies, Will Launch Ad-Free Tier For Extra Fee 1 year ago:
It was awhile ago but I read that a lot of streaming services and I can understand the logic. With ads, there is a direct link between a show and it’s profits. The more people watch a show, the more people see the ads, the more a company can charge for ads on that show. Without ads it becomes difficult. It doesn’t matter if 100 people watch or a million, the profits are the same.
I feel it’s inevitable that streaming services are going to go back to ads. It’s the better business model.
