That’s literally the definition of economic fascism. Private corporations that are subservient to a one party state. The efficiencies of capitalism directed towards the will of the people.
I think it’s important that people understand the core argument behind fascism because if you do not counter it, you allow it to spread. Sometimes not by name but in form.
It’s also my core argument against any non liberal radicalism but that’s not a popular view on this platform for some reason.

Being somewhat in the know, I honestly don’t think it’s a propaganda tool for the CCP in it’s current form and making that claim unsubstantiated doesn’t help with credibility. What it is though is direct access to your devices as a spy tool and a massive machine learning data source that the CCP has unfettered access to. Every phone with the app installed is now a potential sensor.

Do you disagree concerning what would motivate you or the average person in the world? I’m answering based on the latter.
- Comment on US commits to landing an international astronaut on the Moon - This decade 10 months ago:
Unironically yes, I do believe that. Space exploration is a worthy endeavor in and of itself and takes up a fraction of the budget.
- Comment on What's a word that means a common saying which is arguably untrue? 10 months ago:
That’s actually the point. Nobody agrees that potato=ottoman but if enough people agree on a meaning it starts to become the meaning or at least a partial meaning. Maybe the point is moot with you but I get the feeling you wouldn’t understand the joke.
- Comment on What's a word that means a common saying which is arguably untrue? 10 months ago:
If enough people agree, yes.

It doesn’t reward it anymore than even local government control over resources. You act like nobody has ever tried to get out of a speeding ticket or fake their way to impress their lead.
- Comment on Honda's commercials saying they are going to be carbon neutral by 2050. What? 11 months ago:
But what waste do they have that they wouldn’t want to eliminate for production reasons? They assemble cars from parts they buy. A lot of times these parts come from smaller machine shops. A pallet of parts comes in, it gets out on the car, pallet returns to the supplier for the next load. I’m not sure why people are confused here. It’s not like they want the parts to be individually packaged.
Caveat: I’m not a manufacturing expert but I have met some of these machine shop people.

- Comment on Survive the zombie apocalypse 11 months ago:
You only use the firearm if you need it. If you need it, you really want it.
There’s a lot of heating solutions in the world that do not involve fire and even so, plenty of ways to do light sanitation exist.
A lot of these are highly contextual in terms of the type of outbreak and individual skills but I think my options give more flexibility overall for me personally.

See, light and water I can make/clean myself. I’d replace them with one of the firearms to counter other humans and maybe the dog for danger detection.
- Comment on Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout 11 months ago:
Most people get confused because inflation is already accounted for in most reported numbers.
- Comment on Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout 11 months ago:
That is categorically false and it’s dishonest to suggest so.
GDP is at the highest rate in years. We are at full employment. Participation rate is the highest it’s been in 50 years. Wages outpaced inflation while inflation was crazy high helping debtors and the working class at the same time.
Your ideology blinds you.
- Comment on The lack of "real world complaints" and "anger" in popular music genres helps keep the masses docile 11 months ago:
“And all she wants to do is dance.” Nobody ever remembers the rest of the lyrics.
There’s a great podcast called Wind of Change on if the government is involved in music and specifically that song. I’ve never seen it and most government programs are highly documented and focused on Hollywood by giving them access to resources. The US Army is not going to let you borrow tanks if you are going to put them in a bad light. That’s just dumb. This is actually one of my dream programs to become involved with on a personal level.

The issue is not censorship, it’s disinformation and Hamas is all over it when allowed.

- Comment on Housing crisis: Are you prepared to wait 6 months to rent a studio in Paris? | Euronews 1 year ago:
This is the natural result of putting price caps on a market. It says so in the article. Only increasing supply can help with the cost of housing and it needs to be done above demand levels. Until units start sitting vacant that are actually on the market, you won’t see prices go down or people’s needs actually met.

And that’s exactly what needs to happen. Organizations post to both and get the benefits of both. Even better, it allows for better segmentation of user types. Lemmy and Mastodon users tend towards a different demographics by self selection with no privacy infringements needed. The same applies to the classic differences between Twitter and Facebook.

Part of the equation here is the transparency. It’s good that they are transparent and I do think they listen. Part of the interesting side to watch is the interaction with the community.
- Comment on Yo brother sick car yo! 1 year ago:
I don’t think it was badly written for the time but it’s definitely been gamed to the point where pickup trucks need to be part of emissions standards instead of exempt.
- Comment on People who back into parking spots: Why? 1 year ago:
This is exacerbated the longer your vehicle is. It is impossible to turn wide enough with my pickup truck to park forward because the front end swings too much. The more efficient car I take on normal commuting doesn’t have this issue.
