The Fifth Element.

LASIM can copy your current subs to another instance, as others have said. I wish there was a way to migrate posts/comments over. I guess you could just link to your old account in your bio though.

Yep. That was my first thought - how everyone says to use Matrix rather than Lemmy DMs for anything sensitive. This will be fantastic.
- Comment on Blanking on a term. I remember a protocol/firmware for wireless routers where the idea was to connect as many as possible to create a quasi internet without any ISPs. Help? 11 months ago:
I remember there being a YouTube video of some people that did it in a small town and made, essentially, a DIY neighborhood mesh network. I keep looking up stuff, and I’m only finding terms like “relay mesh.” If I find the YouTube video after a more reasonable search, I’ll edit with a link.

As a heads up, this posted 4 times.
- Comment on Why is serveral instances down simultaneously? Is it just me? 11 months ago:
Not saying it was a coordinated attack, per your edit, but anything popular is a prime target for various types of attacks, especially DDoS… But with every attack, the developers and various admins and owners of instances learn something new and how to mitigate it. So while it’s annoying, it’s just as much a blessing as a curse - better to patch things quick than leave an exploitable hole open for who knows how long.
- Comment on Can someone please explain like I'm five the controversy involving Oracle, Red Hat, and SUSE? 11 months ago:
Glad someone asked. I was wondering about that just today and debated asking myself. I’ve been using Fedora for a few years and just installed a new SSD in the laptop. I decided to go ahead and try openSUSE again in light of the situation that I don’t quite understand. 😅
