the first suicide is not suspect, as far as I’ve heard the guy specifically said he is not suicidal JUST IN CASD something like this would happen, but that’s either not true or that fact sadly did not gain attention
- Comment on Why do some languages use gendered nouns? 10 months ago:
try making a really simple language, and figure out that it gets really difficult to speak because you start confusing shit. excessive complexity isn’t good either but some complexity is needed, and gender gives some of that. I have nothing to back this up though
- Comment on Why do some languages use gendered nouns? 10 months ago:
oftentimes grammatical gender actually makes the language easier, paradoxically, and I’m sure there’s a really good explanation out there

it would probably be a sort of universe shaped by ideas, since the most rational thing that could be transported is your consciousness.

- Comment on Every particle that made up your body is older than you, some of them are older than the universe 1 year ago:
at best, that means they’re as old as the universe, not older than it. also, didn’t most of those particles constantly annihilate each other?

- Comment on How do names of countries get translated? What is the reason why Nippon/Nihon is called Japan or Ellada is called Greece in English? 1 year ago:
we call it Japan from the name Marco Polo gave it, Cipango, which should come from the name of some random island he ended up in. we call it Greece because the Romans called it Graecia, for reasons I can’t figure out
- Comment on How does someone with no experience learn to make food? 1 year ago:
try thinking of some food and then look up the recipe and simply follow instructions. maybe you’ll mess up a few times but it just happens. you can also go on YouTube and look for those cooking channels. their recipes might be hard and use exotic ingredients, but generally you can cut corners. if you can, try cooking with a friend. having a hand really helps.

- Comment on Why you might not want to use whatsapp anymore 1 year ago:
Meanwhile literally everyone uses it here. Choose between forfeiting your privacy or isolation. I’ve already left Instagram and that cut me out of a good portion of online interaction here. Leaving whatsapp would eliminate most forms of contact I have with people here. The only thing left is mobile calling, and SMS, which is basically forgotten by everyone. The shit that happens when one platform rules over all.
