- Comment on turning disposable vape batteries into a power bank (printed case) 3 weeks ago:
I vape and I think these disposable vapes are an obscene waste that should not exist. Just get a decent mod, it’s cheaper in the long run anyway

I finally know what inspired that weird Futurama episode!

Maybe it’s similar to how tree sap tastes different after you’ve boiled it down to syrup?
Maple sap has a pleasant, very mildly sweet flavor whereas maple syrup is the greatest thing on earth. - Comment on Sign of the times? 1 month ago:

Billionaires should not exist at all. I saw a post saying that once you earn $999.999.999 dollars you get a trophy saying “I won capitalism” and everything else you earn goes to taxes. We should absolutely do that

English is only the lingua franca for now, but that, as well as the English language, will inevitably change.
- Comment on Part of this complete breakfast! 2 months ago:
Well, what other language should be used? Latin is the language of science because there’s no way we’d ever agree on which alive language to use.
- Comment on Sony will cut around 250 jobs from the recordable media business manufacturing hub and will gradually cease production of optical discs, including Blu-ray discs. 2 months ago:
If they’re decreasing their production, it could mean that physical media is ending. If so, that fucking sucks because you can’t own anything anymore

Sony owns the blu-ray format. I’m worried.

My home country (Iceland) has the highest gun ownership in Europe. It’s not much compared to the US, but it’s interesting that we have almost no gun violence. The reason is that we have very strict gun control with thorough background checks, mandatory training and psych evaluations. In addition to that, we have a functioning healthcare system and low income inequality. All these things need to be adressed before the US sees a decrease in gun violence.
- Comment on It’s not impossible for someone to have heard about assguard, looked it up, and then realized it’s “Asgard”. 4 months ago:
That is actually a lot closer to the Icelandic one, except the F sounds more like a V and -röst rhymes with bust.

As an Icelander, the pronounciations of the nordic names in Marvel movies crack me up. Especially Bifrost (which they pronounce “bi-frost” instead og 'bif-rost", and Laufey (pronounced very differently, also a decidedly female name).

It never made any sense to me that ass is a swear word. It means either a body part or a donkey, neither of which are particularly offensive unless the donkey is performing conservative stand-up comedy.

Not in Norway lol. If you want to meet up at 11:20 you say “ti på halv tolv” meaning "ten minutes before half hour before twelve.
Yeah, it took me a while to wrap my head around it too. - Comment on Real! 7 months ago:

I think the bigger a corporation is, the more shitty things it had to do in order to reach that status.
There are some good companies with a moral code, but they’ll never become competitive with the big dogs in our current capitalist system. - Comment on It's so cold out. 8 months ago:

- Comment on Disney backs down from 'Steamboat Willie' YouTube copyright claim 8 months ago:
You’re right, copyright laws were written ages ago when mass media was exclusively owned by big media companies. If there was ever a copyright dispute, the company’s lawyers would meet up with the other company’s lawyers and either settle or go to court, and both parties could easily pay for the legal fees because they were, you know, big media companies.
But nowadays everyone can simply upload something that can potentially reach billions of people, which is unprecedented in human (or legal) history, and the legal system simply hasn’t caught up to this radical shift in the status quo. This is why Youtube has to compromise between the big media conglomerates with expensive lawyers and, well, the rest of us. - Comment on Work placement rewards om 2044 8 months ago:
Yeah company towns were a thing 100 years ago and they were terrible and corporations desperately want to bring them back
