Yeah, about the only place I trust for electronics reviews is rtings, and consumer reports for household appliances. Everywhere else seems infected by the affiliate bug

I’ve carried various 6-10’ pipes and poles sticking out the passenger seat of my Miata. Infinite vertical space! lol

6 of the fingers
I don’t get that term in this context. What’s a “finger” here?
- Comment on What’s a game you can 100% without hating by the end? 2 months ago:
Check out Endless Sky if you haven’t heard of it

Lemmy needs people with a wider range of expertise and interests. Right now it’s more niche than reddit c.2010
- Comment on hooooly shit! has anyone else played journey? 4 months ago:
I was playing on Steam maybe 2 months ago and I saw two people in my 4ish hours of playing. They both kinda danced around me for a bit then ran off :(
- Comment on It's almost the week-end, what are you guys going to play? 5 months ago:
Still playing through Thirsty Suitors on my deck on the TV. About 4 hrs in. It’s got an interesting story in there, but the fighting gets tedious sometimes and honestly, I wish I were encountering more of my exes. 7/10 so far
Also playing my second run through of BG3 with my buddy whenever we both have time. 10/10
And unrelated to gaming, I’ll have the 24 Hours of Le Mans on in the background
- Comment on How rental ‘libraries of things’ have become the new way to save money 6 months ago:
Housing was too expensive and we wanted to move back east closer to family. Most of our Oakland friends took a similar path between ‘18 and ‘22
- Comment on How rental ‘libraries of things’ have become the new way to save money 6 months ago:
Yeah if I see a “used once” tool on Craigslist, I’m not paying 95% of retail for it
- Comment on How rental ‘libraries of things’ have become the new way to save money 6 months ago:
Yeah I borrowed a bunch of hand and power tools from the Oakland public library when I lived there in the 2010s. They also had a shit ton of video games
- Comment on The Verge shows how Google search is useless 6 months ago:
The only time google gets me better results than DDG now is if I have a really vague question, like “movie where the guy wears a trash bag on his leg and has a piña colada on the train to Milwaukee”
- Comment on Best Buy Geek Squad Agents ‘Going Sleeper’ After Mass Layoffs 7 months ago:
lol yeah, in the 90s you could go in there and buy a couple resistors, a couple capacitors, and a couple (expensive, crappy) LEDs
I can see how that didn’t work out for them though
- Comment on Boeing: Last Week Tonight 8 months ago:
So if I were looking to fly with this in mind, you have any suggestions on finding flights on Airbus or older Boeing planes? I.E. is there a flight search site where you can specify? Or at least where it shows the plane on the search results page?

Doesn’t look like they’re actually selling this wheel. Looks like it was just made for this video
- Comment on The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion 9 months ago:
Oh I didn’t know there were leagues!
I usually just jump into 3v3 competitive for a couple matches at the end of a night, but last week I did a tournament. Made it all the way to the semifinals! Which is way further than I expected to lol

I’ve played through the whole thing and maxed out my restaurant. I’m still not sure how to describe why it’s so engaging for me.
I think Stardew didn’t hit with me because there were too many mechanics. But Dave is just so light and joyful!

Huh Mazda isn’t listed. I assume because it wasn’t tested, rather than because it’s so much better than the others
- Comment on Need help getting my dad to play Baldur's Gate 3 11 months ago:
Email GOG and ask them whether their version of BG3 works on Mac? If it ends up not working, you have a solid case for a refund
I know Steam would be ideal, but sometimes you just have to meet somebody where they are

Blue Man show left during/after the pandemic. It’s mostly empty now
- Comment on The Steam Deck OLED feels like a radiant new dawn for portable play 11 months ago:
Yeah I have a usb dock with HDMI plugged into my TV, and an old Xbox One controller paired to the Deck. Basically works the same as a docked Switch
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
Ok, yeah I’ve tried trackpadding other games on the Deck and it was an unenjoyable experience for me. Maybe I’ll try to push through again with this game
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
Yeah I’ve tried using the Deck’s trackpads in games. I’m ok with it for an occasional menu, but I haven’t been able to enjoy it enough to use it as a primary gaming input device
- Comment on Review: Analogue Duo 11 months ago:
Ok I wasn’t try to make a judgement about the price. I’m not really in the market for something like this. I was just curious, and figured others would be too.
- Comment on Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released 11 months ago:
According to the Steam page, it does not have controller support.
I’m waiting for that too, so I can play on the Deck or on the couch
- Comment on Review: Analogue Duo 11 months ago:
And it’s $250
- Comment on The ROG Ally is Still Getting Better (Updated Review) 11 months ago:
Yeah I’ve played some games on GamePass on my Deck via MS Edge and xcloud. It works pretty well for anything where input lag isn’t a factor, like turn-based games.
I tried Rocket League and Forza just for shits and giggles, and while it’s not unplayable, it’s also not good enough to be enjoyable
- Comment on GTA 6 trailer coming Tuesday, Rockstar announces 11 months ago:
I’m gonna look at reviews and gameplay first. But if it’s got 10+ hours of what looks to me like fun, then I’ll probably buy it
As with V, I’m not interested in the online stuff
