- Comment on I've noticed my boomer parents using Instagram and tik tok. I can't tell you how excited I am for them to kill those platforms like they did facebook. 8 months ago:
I think TikTok is at its peak and will be sad if it goes to shit like Insta and Facebook. Although I am a Gen Xer it currently fills the holes that Twitter and Reddit left empty…I see what is trending, cool stuff, news, cute animals and broaden my horizons with lgbtq and black issues. Of course it’s not the same experience for everyone but I find it pretty fulfilling a lot of times as social media, entertainment etc.

When you take out a credit card aren’t you getting an advance on the ability to pay it back?

Sounds like they are saying (later this month) you can create your own Bluesky instance…but will they ever federate outside that?

- Comment on The reasons why you often come up with your best ideas while on a walk or in the shower 10 months ago:
TLDR
Focus shift: Stepping away from immediate goals encourages “positive daydreaming,” a constructive form of mind wandering that fosters unexpected connections and sparks inspiration.
Reduced pressure: The relaxed atmosphere of the shower lowers inhibitions and anxieties, allowing us to think freely and explore creative avenues without judgment.
Sensory stimulation: The sound and feel of water can act as a trigger, stimulating the brain and promoting new thought patterns

- Comment on Does the rest of the English speaking world generally understand what an American means when they say "soccer", or does it help to clarify by adding "football"? 10 months ago:
I’m going to call them soccer football and American football from now on
- Comment on Honda's commercials saying they are going to be carbon neutral by 2050. What? 11 months ago:
Ah this makes sense. Seems like they are trying to say Honda’s impact on the planet will be carbon neutral, which seems impossible.

- Comment on Why would I want to use the multi-desktop functionality in Windows 11? 11 months ago:
It’s basically GoScreen which I didn’t learn about until recently…but I didn’t see some of the features I like about go screen.
I have 3 minors and I get to the point I have projects open on each for estimating claims (fire and water damage) with estimating software, pictures, pdf diagrams and notepad files open. Then my phone rings and I go to a different mode…I want all of that exactly where I left it, and jump back to a second desktop with all of my other software open. (Phone, email, web browser etc)
If I didn’t have this I would never get these projects done because I would close everything and have to open it all to get back to the same place in my analysis and evaluation.

- Comment on Old Wallpaper Matching? 11 months ago:
Yeah I don’t know a lot about electrical but I work in insurance and have seen quite a few “origin and cause” fire reports with pics of wiring that looks a bit like that. Sounds like you know what you’re doing 😊
- Comment on Old Wallpaper Matching? 11 months ago:
Doubtful on the wallpaper but that original wiring worries me. Do you have plenty of smoke detectors?
- Comment on s there a way to make an interface or to use an app like Signal so your texts can't get "legally intercepted" via bluetooth from all car manufacturers? 1 year ago:
can you connect audio directly to the car with a 1/4” analog input? Or connect a Bluetooth adapter to the 1/4” input and connect to that? Can you change to a car that doesn’t have the system that reads your texts?
