As much as omegle was a cesspit, there are already even sketchier alternatives up and running. This will be a wild goose chase with no end in sight unless sites like this get rid of all privacy and log every single interaction and step up their moderation.
Like piracy sites and other illegal/grey areas, take one source down and two more will appear, or however the saying goes.
- Comment on TikTok says it’s not the algorithm, teens are just pro-Palestine — The company denied allegations that it has been promoting pro-Palestine content in an effort to sway American opinion 1 year ago:
Almost like when you take religion out of the picture it's one country committing genocide against another which is never okay for any reason. Israel can scream "but muh anti-semitism" all they want but it's a scapegoat. Ignore Jewish/Muslim backgrounds and look at what's really going on. It's nothing but a disgusting land grab and genocide hat's been going on since WW2.
The world would 100% be a better place without Israel, and that's nothing to do with their religion. The country itself is evil and corrupt. They are bigoted and hypocritical. Israel deserves no sympathy or support. Out of all the bullshit I've seen happen in the middle east the past few decades, Israel is definitely the most abhorrent and repulsive source of conflict.

Vivaldi is a better brave. You get built in ad blocking and tracking prevention along with not having built in crypto

I want this to happen. It would be hilarious
- Comment on Game wikis just aren't as popular anymore? 1 year ago:
Reminder to get Indie Wiki Buddy to automatically be redirected to ad-free versions of fandom wikis or to be redirected to actual genuine wikis, for example, TF2 Fandom Wikis get redirected to the official TF2 Wiki.
- Comment on Does it matter if I skip sponsored ad segments in YouTube videos? 1 year ago:
No, the creator has been paid for the sponsorship beforehand. If you were never going to get the products that are sponsored then there's no difference between skipping it or letting it play and ignoring it.
I mean yeah, youtube does track the times in videos people do watch and are engaged in, but by skimming through almost any video you can see many people skip around and don't actually watch the full videos.
Sponsorblock just saves me from manually skipping past the sponsorships. I was never going to buy a shilled product to begin with anyway. I buy things based on my own research, not what a youtuber says I should buy.

Nothing is going to change if all the companies violating rights and stuff keep getting just a slap on the wrist. Yeah, 368 million is a lot, but it's pocket change when considering tiktok brings in over 9 billion revenue a year.

I don't buy this. Plenty of games allow you to adjust gravity on the fly using console commands. All they would have to do if you enter a new planet's atmosphere, is adjust the gravity value.
Source engine has allowed this forever, changing gravity on the fly. No reason it can't be implemented in other engines.
- Comment on How can I be less competitive about social media engagement? 1 year ago:
Quit playing the numbers game. It's all irrelevant. Those numbers are there to go up, give you that dopamine, and get you addicted. Yeah, it's hard, but once you keep reminding yourself that most social media is designed to be addictive and is genuinely detrimental to mental health, you will begin to stop caring.

You're telling me governments use computers? That's insane, I don't believe it. Next you'll be telling me they're on the internet too.
- Comment on Google Chrome now targets ads based on your browser history, here's how to turn that off 1 year ago:
Vivaldi is going to block this. It is a thing being built into the engine and they are going to be blocking it in their browser.
I know people say Vivaldi is slow but they've done some refactoring recently. Gave it a whirl and it's as fast as Edge now on my old crappy laptop.
- Comment on Most motorists want noise cameras installed to clamp down on loud cars 1 year ago:
Please. I live on one of the busier streets in my town, right by an intersection. The amount of people driving by with cars that sound like someone's farting over a megaphone are insanely obnoxious. Fuck, most the time they're shit boxes that go slower than normal cars. People in my area buy cheap, shitty cars, pay to have a falsified safety, then make them loud and obnoxious while slowing down traffic because their cars can barely accelerate.
- Comment on Microsoft now has implemented "compare with Bing chat" button when you visit Google Bard in Edge 1 year ago:
I'd like to recommend this video by a retired Microsoft OS engineer about how LLMs like ChatGPT and Bard work. It has lots of technical mumbo jumbo, but Dave tries to explain it in simpler terms.

Yes this. It's great that a national news source is embracing the fediverse. This is their instance for those who haven't seen it.
- Comment on Vodafone Finds Brits Keep Mobile Phones for 4 Years Instead of 2 1 year ago:
I had it enabled for a bit and everything worked fine, but I was worried about accidentally triggering it so disabled it before hearing about the false alarms.
Here's an article from the CBC about it.

Meanwhile in Canada it's being recommended to disable emergency SOS on both iPhones and Androids because of how many false 911 calls they end up placing, causing first responders to waste time on non-emergencies.
- Comment on Shouldn't the hosts of instances have public information/profile available about how they will run their instances and use your information? 1 year ago:
Yeah. When I was trying to find a kbin instance to join I'd go to the different ones, read the FAQ, privacy policy, terms of service, and made an educated decision after finding one that I thought was good, and I am not disappointed with my choice. A directory would be nice but a few extra clicks to find out the same information with more detail is worth it imo
- Comment on Google raising price of YouTube Premium to $13.99 per month 1 year ago:
I pay for YouTube premium family as much as I hate doing it, mainly because of my step daughter. It's not easy to block YouTube ads on Roku, and my wife and I weren't a fan of the ads they would be showing before videos we would put on. She travels to her dad's place often so I have the family plan so no matter where she is she won't have to deal with ads.
Rather not be raising a child messed up by advertisements telling her what to think. When she gets a bit older and can understand what advertisements are I'll finally cancel, but she's very young and impressionable.
