More anxiety, more fear and higher expectations. Yay. But it is also anime time.

Manga

I’ve been reading Battle Angel Alita at a slow pace, and have just caught up to immediately after the plot of the '93 OVA ends. I’ll reserve my judgement until a later point, but I do like it quite a bit.

As for why I’ve been taking it slow: A friend and comrade has convinced me to pick up Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun!'s manga again, since I am already watching the new season of the anime, after I stopped reading for honestly probably no reason at all. The last 70 chapters have been a banger after banger, and I can easily recommend this series to someone who looks at new manga releases and just groans at the quantity and quality of uncreative slop.

Also, I’ve been reading A Badboy Drinks Tea / Ochanigosu. A fun little slice of delinquent comedy, basically a spiritual successor to one of my all time favorites, Angel Densetsu. It’s good, but also doesn’t reach the heights of the manga that very clearly inspired it.

Anime

I’m done with the main plot of Monogatari (I think) and it’s now side story time. It has a deserved bad reputation due to all the ancap-good stuff in it (which thankfully peaks in Nisemonogatari, the second season in the series), and in its even more sus fans, and it’s a highly entertaining story. My favorite parts are the seemingly self-contained stories, like the Kizumonogatari movies, or the currently watched Zoku Owarimonogatari, where the author’s writing skills shine through.

I have finally picked up Space Runaway Ideon after learning bits and pieces of the show from Super Robot Wars Y’s DLC, and knowing much already. It’s a good show, with peak Tomino’s writing quality. I know what happens at the end of it (at least parts of it) and in this case knowing the spoilers actually made me interested in the show.

I’ve seen Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!'s season 1. It’s one of those one joke only shows, but it’s a competent one. However, I felt it stumbled at the final few episodes. Maybe I’ll watch the sequels sometime in the future.
