Windows 11 26H2 flips a switch for enterprises: on Microsoft Entra-joined and hybrid-joined devices, Windows settings backup is now on by default. Microsoft pitches it as relief for IT teams who no longer have to guess whether a reset machine can be restored. But the new default covers only half the process, and it skips devices in EU Digital Markets Act regions as well as sovereign cloud environments. For multinational organizations, that could mean one fleet behaving in two different ways, and a feature becoming active without anyone having decided on it. Compliance teams may want a closer look before an audit forces one. <https://fawkes.rocks/2026/10/01/windows-settings-backup-now-on-by-default-for-entra-orgs/> #SecurityUpdates #CloudSecurity #Privacy #Microsoft
