I have to consciously remember to breathe when I’m doing almost anything, especially anything involving bending over, and it just occurred to me after having the elements forever, that this is a freeze response - a freeze response to basically anything, to tying my shoes, so doing anything stresses me out?
That a form of, a CPTSD thing, I guess?
.
I realize that because I’m not breathing, everything is a hurry and a panic, this shoestring better not give me any trouble, I’m running out of air. I catch myself holding my breath to sit up and get out of bed, and again putting on my robe, and finding the sleeve can take a second and stress me out.
.
Breathe, Babe. Saying this to myself all day long. Anybody else have this crazy problem? Is there a name for it?

@punishmenthurts @autistics I stop breathing when stressed. Scared a too-persistent admirer once 🙃

it’s hard to see this as an adaptive, positive aspect of Autism, if we are thrown into stress mode by anything and everything.

I mean, my whole thing was going to be how Allistics throw far too much work at the amygdala, this would seem
like a huge conflict for me.
