There is a flagship instance that is run by the developers and also the option to self-host it. They have a page about that in their documentation: docs.karrot.world/self-host/why

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for and I couldn’t find it any where obvious on the main page. It wasn’t clear to me what or who karrot was, and how it was related to self hosting. They might consider adding an additional ‘about’ button some where very obvious for dumb dumbs like me who just miss it.
