Today I learned that I can speak a post with ChatGPT in Work Mode, read the finished words, and then ask it to publish them on Mastodon for me. All with my voice!
I have the use of one hand. Typing and posting have always involved more stressful physical work than many people realise. Being able to speak while a tool handles the fiddly bits makes a genuine difference.
The words are all mine. I decide what goes out. I just don’t have to do every click myself anymore.

Finally, a legitimate use case for #LLM!
I am against this particular model and bemoan the way that this model was created on the theft of countless human's lives/created works and the continued exploitation of our environment.
If there was a #FOSS LLM that one could run locally that had the same capabilities rather than a corporate model like #OpenAI.
While there used to be tools such as #DragonNaturallySpeaking until #MicroSlop bought it out and are now charging $700 dollars for a license.
Personally I am looking for a similar program to Dragon Naturally Speaking as I hurt my dominant hand, and typing/mousing is painful/slow.
I looked on line and apparently #Talon is the recommended program.

Thanks, William. I think your experience with your hand gets very close to what I’m talking about.
I used Dragon NaturallySpeaking years ago. What has changed for me is that I’m no longer simply dictating words into a computer. I can speak conversationally, have the AI help me shape what I’m trying to say, read the finished version, change it by voice, and then have it carry out the fiddly computer work as well.
That distinction matters enormously when you have limited use of your hands.
I’d also love to see powerful local and open-source AI develop further. For me, the important thing is that the technology keeps moving toward giving #PWD more independence, rather than making us adapt ourselves to the machine.
