Yeah the Germans were extremely cruel. The German Empire employed a extrem scorched earth strategy against the rebelion of the maji maji people, modern day Tanzania. The rebellion was followed by a extreme famine cause by it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maji_Maji_Rebellion
