Yes, there is a Japanese version of the song. I have Totoro on DVD and the English audio track sounds like your clip. The Japanese audio track has Japanese lyrics starting with what sounds like: 「歩こう、歩こう、私は元気」(“Aruko, aruko, watashi wa genki”)
