One thing they don't tell you about rehearsing community band is that "four bars after A" could mean two different bars depending on whether you consider A the bar itself.

Is it the "A" bar, and then four bars after it? Is it just the marking and then four bars after the rehearsal mark itself?

I've caught myself a bunch making this mistake. I now opt for "fourth bar of A", which is unambiguous.

Even musicians get caught off guard by off-by-one errors. 😏
