  OK, I'm at twelve minutes, and I just want to add my divergent ass to the list, last of four kids - and I'll add some logic to the scenario - it's the dark other side of the coin about parental resources and more children: the first one takes all the crap alone, not at all sharing the load of abuse with anyone for their first year or three, so they are further bent to authority and conservatism. The first child is the only one completely outnumbered by the adults. Sorry, editing to rant:

  This is just like another one recently, and surely this bias affects the majority, it's part of the fallacy of authority or something that "parental resources," are assumed to be positive things only and so the firstborn are assumed to be privileged rather than more thoroughly dominated. The firstborn son grows up to be Lord of the manor, living off the misery of the serfs because he had more POSITIVE resources directed his way? There is some assumption by the majority sort that good treatment makes you a monster, they say it about all the rich monsters, it's very strange. If the firstborn is going to inherit, making him a monster would be sort of mandatory, and I think generally parents are rougher on the first ones, make more mistakes with the first ones.

  But this causality is missing from Allistic Human Science, like the Davids said in The Dawn of Everything, the euros lack the actuarial sense, they cannot see what authority does to them. Sorry.

  It's my Autistic Ockham's Razor. You have to give it, "It's complicated, sure it means something but it can't be isolated, the effects are small," all that, instead of just seeing the firstborn conservatism and saying, "Oh, having the parents all to yourself gives you a BAD attitude." Rather it's all this approval from the parents about "responsibility," and "maturity." I feel like no-one has tried, "maybe parenting is bad," even once, ever. Sorry again. Nobody's fault, it's just not there in the modern human.
