Abstract:
Existing 3D roof models often omit small roof structures and attachments that cast shadows and limit usable space on rooftops. This talk presents Emboss, a plug-in method that combines aerial imagery and LiDAR to augment roof models with these missing details. It then explores how the enriched roofs support solar simulation, energy yield estimation, and panel placement that accounts for shading and obstruction.
