On Monday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez warned about the dangers of the U.S. doctrine of imposing peace by force, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.

He pointed out that U.S. policy fosters armed conflicts, fuels the arms race, seeks resources and sovereign territories, and violates international law and multilateralism.

Rodriguez insisted on the need to build a new democratic and inclusive international order, capable of confronting the philosophy of plunder and war. The diplomat will participate in the UN General Assembly, where Cuba will denounce the blockade imposed by Washington.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that peace is “dangerously scarce” in the face of increasing conflicts, the breakdown of dialogue, and the lack of global solidarity.

Guterres defended diplomacy, negotiation, and human rights, emphasizing that peace requires social inclusion, sustainable development, and the ongoing work of community leaders.

The United Nations launched the slogan “Investing in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” honoring those who promote stability and justice at the local level.

The organization emphasized that peace encompasses security and cooperation, extending beyond the cessation of wars. The commemoration is based on the 1981 UN General Assembly resolution establishing the International Day of Peace as a global day of reflection.
