All that remains on gab is a bunch of super racist, white supremacist people. I mean it kind of sucks that I left behind 5000 followers. but honestly spam posting conservative politics gets old after a while.
Is it really just all about the ability to post images that has driven everyone away ?
I think, its kind of a big one
I think it’s a little more but mostly related to that: free users were going to be restricted from posting media; the change was announced and implemented quickly and multiple alternatives to the proposal were rejected by leadership; the userbase (that wasn’t willing to pay to post media) was painted as being “freeloaders” and “socialists” (although such people voluntarily work “for free” to provide content for the site)
It drove off a bunch of “volunteer” posters and people disgusted with how they were being cast as and people who relied on free posters for content
(Imagine you’re a “free” poster that built up a giant community and suddenly you can’t post media to your group…)
Honestly it feels bad that that site is dying because I personally like a lot of Torba’s content.
It really did seem to be the strongest Twitter alternative.
Is anyone advertising us to others over on Gab?
