BlackSky Global-36 (BlackSky Gen 3 FM-6)
BlackSky Technology’s final of an initial five missions to deploy its new next-generation BlackSky Gen-3 satellites. The commercial constellation of Gen-3 satellites has the capability to produce images with a resolution of 50 centimeters and to host multiple sensors, including shortwave infrared (SWIR). The improved resolution and enhanced spectral diversity of the Gen-3 satellites will expand BlackSky’s ability to provide real-time information to its customers.

“Happily Ever Faster” was a dedicated Electron mission to deploy a single commercial satellite to a 500 km low Earth orbit. The satellite launched on Electron from Launch Complex 1 and was deployed from a Rocket Lab Motorized Lightband, a separation system for satellites with 100% mission success that showcases the streamlined service Rocket Lab delivers customers from across its vertically-integrated launch and space systems products.
There was no webcast for this mission. No advanced notice on RocketLab’s social media. Just a “Oh, by the way, we launched an Electron for BlackSky a confidential customer bit over an hour ago.”
