i just watched the original The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954), and that film is amazing.. technology means nothing..

Maybe it’s not so much ‘being spoiled’ as not having a high tolerance for cheaply made, schlocky fan-service?
You realize 90s Trek had a massive budget for the time and the effects were actually considered outstanding, right? It was never cheap, it’s just become dated. Fanservice varies. Early TNG had TOS-style skimpy outfits, but generally avoided references to TOS. Later on they got better outfits, but also became more self-referential.

Watching through TOS now - it’s still so much fun! The characters, philosophical stuff, and dialogue are what makes Star Trek great, not the effects.
