Today I received a few posts from an account I haven’t heard from in ages, so I thought I’d been blocked.
If that were the case, wouldn’t I still be able to see the latest posts?
I know from other fedi platforms that posts have been published there.
So what’s going on?

Don't be too surprised if you do receive these posts in a few hours or days or so.

Sometimes there are unexplicable delays...

    Yes, that’s what I meant.
    
    It’s quite possible that you were blocked. Once the block is lifted, you’ll only be able to see posts under “Recent activity” from the moment the block is lifted.
