Longer term maybe we should make a user setting (pconfig) to show/hide them in both Frio and Vier, and then Bookface/Booklook shows them if enabled and restyles them? Then enabling them is done in settings by each user, instead of the admin editing a file for everyone.
Of course that would require changes in core but I assume they'd be ok with it when showing them is optional, and perhaps default to "off".
