We’d need to wait for someone like the BBC to get in there.
And Israel was already killing a lot of journalist before this on Israeli land, so I don’t expect a big rush.
If they try to report from the Palestinian side, they’re at constant risk of being bombed. And who knows if Hamas would try to use them as human shields indefinitely.
It’ll be a while before we know details.
And acting like what videos do come out are reflective of the entire situation is crazy. One of the biggest parts of propaganda is taking isolated incidents and presenting it as widespread

Thanks for mentioning this. I think a lot of people think propaganda means to lie But it’s more about shaping the narrative. Choosing what information propagates.
Your comment was an excellent reminder.

Or taking clips of unrelated incidents (older / from other parts of the world / from fictional media) and suggesting that’s what’s happening right now.
Some of the atrocities right now ARE real, and spreading fake stories/clips does not help any side. There’s also the risk that sharing a very recent clip will put someone in that clip in harms way.
So agreed, as curious as we are to know more. Hopefully everyone caught up in this find safety

Al Jazeera has people reporting from the palestinian side, so it is possible… Actual details, obviously neither side is going to leak… we’ll be fed propoganda from both sides until it’s over and probably after too.

Curious, has Hamas ever kidnapped journalists?

This is the best summary I could come up with:
As one of the largest invasions in 50 years unfolded on the streets, sea and skies over Israel, misinformation about the assault proliferated on social media.
In one instance, a widely circulated video of an Israeli airstrike was said to show a retaliation to Saturday’s surprise attack by Palestinian group Hamas, which has left hundreds dead.
“BREAKING: Israeli Air Force is striking terror targets in Gaza,” read the caption of the video, which was shared on Facebook and social media platform X.
Meanwhile, both fighting parties turned to social media and tech platforms to engage in information warfare.
The group instead has turned primarily to the messaging platform Telegram to distribute its content and saw colossal follower growth on Saturday.
And while they may have released these videos in hopes of rallying other Palestinians to launch attacks, it’s more likely to draw the international community to Israel’s side,” said Jonathan Lord, senior fellow and director of the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security, a think tank in Washington.
The original article contains 416 words, the summary contains 174 words. Saved 58%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

So because it’s on social media, it belongs in technology? This belongs in news, world or politics.

Yeah, just because something utilises technology doesn’t mean it belongs in a technology community.
Also, social media spreading misinformation hardly even counts as news these days.
