Setting up one's camera on the shady side of the tracks (I'm speaking literally here) can make for challenging footage. This is especially true when shooting toward the setting sun. It really is a roll of the dice to figure out how to expose for a subject that isn't there yet and will pass by so quickly!
I figured it was worth the challenge for this episode to incorporate such a beautiful brick building into the shot. Railfans refer to this stretch of the Union Pacific Brooklyn line as 'horn alley', a moniker I suspect gets applied to many places where trains blow their horns for numerous crossings.
Thank you to all the railroaders who report for duty at every hour of the day and night to make train operations possible.
