This is another movie by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schneinart, who are known for directorial debut, Swiss Army Man (2016), other surreal and dark comedic media on film and TV. I’m surprised wombat/stalin, i_gargle_good/greb_greb has not shown them, let alone this, before (zoift has shown Swiss Army Man)
