When Hoagie uses the window in order to go from the attic to the roof in the past, there's a moment when the game gives you back control of your characters. You can use that moment to switch to Bernard or Laverne. When you switch back to Hoagie, he'll be stuck in that animation, and he'll be able to walk through walls. He'll keep that state until he does an action that loads a different animation. For example, painting the tree, entering Red's basement, giving the cigar to Washington, or going up the chimney. This is known as the Hoagie Hustle. Doing it in the original game is trivial: you enter the window as Hoagie and, once the animation starts, you hold "2" in order to switch to Bernard. By doing so, you're 100% guaranteed you'll switch to Bernard at the right moment. In the remaster, it's harder. You can still do the same thing, and it will work... about 50% of the time. You see, the remaster is infamous for ignoring your inputs during certain frames, and this is particularly true when you hold a key. So, instead, to increase your chances of getting the Hoagie Hustle, press "2" when Hoagie's left leg is making it though the window. The timing is a bit tricky, but with practice, it isn't too hard.
