They must be very lonely. I don’t want to be too narrow-minded, but I think it stems from a lack of something. A lack of people. As you grow older, you realize this place is completely an animal kingdom. Animals aren’t always gentle. Some people are more sensitive. The painful aspects of real relationships can hurt them more. So Aı feels safer probably.
