We often tend to think of culture as “the way a group of people do things”. For reasons relevant to conversations where culture is important (e.g. conversations about cultural appropriation), where would you say this starts and ends? Are cities able to present themselves as if one were presenting a culture (e.g. saying I am taking part in cultural appropriation for dressing like someone from Buffalo)? What about religions, disabilities, etc.? What about fictional cultures? Am wondering because the more I think of culture as being purely geographic, the more my mind thinks “wait, this can’t be right”.
