I don’t drink anymore, but I have some great memories of snuggling up with my cat and some vodka to binge DS9 and play Witcher 3.
When someone says that you shouldn't drink alone

That’s BS anyways. I hate drinking socially. Firstly I hate being drunk in public. Feels weird to me. Second, it’s too expensive. Third, if I drink two beers at home I don’t get a DUI trying to go to bed later.
There is nothing wrong with drinking alone. If you have a drinking problem and you’re drinking alone to hide it, that’s a different conversation.

I think you’re looking at the “don’t drink alone” the wrong way. I think it means that if you drink alone it’s much more likely to become a habit and in turn become a problem than if you just drink with others

I definitely have a habit. Every Friday night I pick up two random tall boys of craft beer, fire up rimworld and play until I’m too sleepy to continue.
I get what you’re saying but wouldn’t it be just as likely to form a habit if you enjoy drinking with others? I think the issue boils down to what enables you or justifies pushing it to the next level but that’s just my BS opinion based on almost no real facts or understanding of addiction.
