Here is a list of links off the top of my head this morning of killings with guns over the last year or so. I’m not trying to say the gun laws that have been passed this week are good, or are the absolute answer. But I am now convinced, we’ve got a gun and man problem, and we have to start taking action to avoid more harm in regards these.

This is an opinion based on these four instances, not the statistics. I considered looking at those and they are important, but this opinion is about the severity and finality of gun violence, statistics sometimes detract from that cold point. The quantum of damage that can be metered out in a short amount of time with a gun is so much greater than other weapons. Everybody has periods of high stress, especially in the times we’re living in it is likely increasing and we have to tackle both drivers of these killings at the same time.

I don’t mean to attack, but its better to inconvenience gun owners’ lives, than end another’s. How selfish are we, if we can’t see past our own daily ease of living to understand the finality of the risk we propose others in the nation accept for something so minor. It is not an attack on gun owners. It is a responsibility to ensure we look after each other’s wellbeing as best we can, and it’s a sacrifice to lesser or greater degrees in our own lives to live in communities not torn apart by unnecessary and final outcomes driven by in the moment emotionally driven actions of individuals.

The links show, it isn’t only metro areas, it isn’t only unlicensed gun owners, it isn’t only ideological extremists. It is notably all men though.

It’s an opinion for people to consider…
