    Last night:
aurora from backyard, shed and rolls of wire mesh in foreground. Curtains lavender at top blending to green at base, with some green lower on horizon.
    May 2024 was better:
backyard aurora shed in foreground. Curtains deep red high blending to green low and distinct swirly green band lower across horizon
    April 2023:
aurora overlooking trees and road. Faint red curtains

…all from Melbourne’s far outer west, using an old sony nex camera. Did my best to preserve it as perceived by my eyes. No enhancement or turning up the colour (like phones and some cameras do now with their baked-in AI enhancement).

Well it was certainly visible, not as good as the night we had a couple of years ago, but I was successfully getting colour from the sky just shooting handheld on my phone.
